I have decided that the time has come for me to upgrade my ancient ATI card. I am thinking of going for an Nvidia card now, since they seem to have far more support for the various games, and reading this site: http://ibuynvidia.com/ makes me think that they have something going for them. Can anybody recommend me a good nvidia card? There really seem to be a large variety of them on the market, and I can afford $500 at the very most for one.

i think your budget is great and you will get a really good and you will get a great graphic card at that price. nvidia is a good option. please check out the latest nvidia graphic card GTX 470 and GTX 480. also GTX 295 would be a good deal. these are the latest and the best ones. but you will need a good motherboard to support these cards with PCI express 2.0 slots in it.

You could get the GTX 280. That is a GREAT card for about 400-500 depending on who you get it from. Or you could get two GTX 260s and link them up via SLI and get some real power that way, but the 260s arnt direct x 11 compatable.
