There are many homeless people around the world and I suppose, Philippines have a great number of homeless people. For what reason, I also do not know and understand. Why do you think are there homeless people? Squatters? And NPA's (No Permanent Address)? Why can't they own a land or a home? Do you think it is their fault for not having one? Or there are still other factors that have to be considered for this issue? For me, I sometimes pity these people but a part of me always speak that they also have faults for not owning a home. Perhaps, they do not work hard or exert efforts for having own home. How about you? What is your point of view regarding this matter?

Well, I am afraid my views may cause a bit of heat. However, it is my opinion, and it is based on solid research, observation, and real life stories, of people I know or know of. People that are homeless, choose to believe they have no other choice. It is a choice you make, the way you think that determines your lot in life. Change your thoughts, change your life. If you are homeless, then it is from the choices you made, you have none to blame but yourself, and if you used to be and now you are not, then you know that you changed the way you think and congratulations on accepting the fact that you were homeless as only a temporary situation, far too many people do not know that if they simple chose to have it as a temporary setback, rather then the way it must be, it would be just that, Temporary. Sincerely and With Appreciation.

I believe homeless people are all around the world, however rich a place is. There are always people out there struggling to make a living. Many factors contribute to this negative social phenomenon. It may be resulted either from their inability to work or their being too lazy. Whatever the case, we can do almost nothing to improve their humble status. Small amount of donations help, but it's far from changing their living fundamentally. The key is that the government needs to take measures to eliminate this.

There are some homeless people living in my home country. Some of them sleep on the street by shop doorways and in cardboard boxes. Others of them stay in hostels for homeless people. Some enterprising homeless people sell a magazine called The Big Issue. I know the homeless people that own a dog are not allowed to take their dog into the hostel. In the winter it most be ever so miserable to be a homeless person. In my home country there is social security which gives income support to the poor but the person the person would have to have an address to get that. It is impossible to get a job without having an address and a telephone number to be reached on. Without a home the homeless can't have a job. So the homeless person hasn't got the necessary money to buy a house or stay in rented accommodation. It must be very depressing to be homeless that is why some homeless people get drunk. Something has happened in the person's life to make him or her homeless. I know the council has long list for its accommodation. On the streets poor health is likely. There seem to be home less people all around in the world quite sadly. I wish all the homeless people could get a home to live in.

I always see people on streets begging for alms, asking for money or for food. Some of them don't even have homes to go to, and when the weather is not good, they all get wet under the falling rain. These mendicants are considered as people living below poverty line. I wanted to blame the government for not helping them improve their lives, but I also think that they too should blame themselves for not using their heads. I wanted to tell them that there are a lot of opportunities in stored for them, but they just didn't want to grab them because they chose to do the easier job, and that is by merely asking something from other people. I just hope that their will no longer be any beggars or mendicants and squatters in the future. The government should do their jobs also by giving the poor the help they need.

In my country there are many homeless people. They beg and they look negligent.I think they are like that because it is simple for them to live with what other people give them and not go to work.Unfortunately the government does not take action and day after day we see more homeless people.

there are homeless people in every country and what makes it worse is that there is no need for it, there is enough money in the world to ensure that everybody has something to live on...it makes me mad that footballers recieve millions for PLAYING A GAME???? when that money could have provided food, clothing and shelter for someone

There are homeless people in Denmark. I grew up in one of the biggest cities in my country and I often met homeless people in the streets. My grandmother used to live close to a shelter and when I was there I often met homeless people at the busstop. Most of them were friendly and open and I have talked to many of them while we were waiting for the bus. I know that a lot of people from the my grandmother's village were afraid of the homeless people and didn't want them around, but they have never bothered me or been rude to me.

Some people are just victims of circumstances. They were born to very poor parents who were not able to send them to school. So they go on living in poverty and when they also have their own children, they pass on the bitter cycle which is hard to stop. Some get lucky though and are able to rise above the miserable states they're in. We cannot blame these people entirely because our society is ridden with selfish people who only think of themselves and are not so sensitive on the needs of others. We need to have a more humane society in order for these people to be given a chance to live more decently.

In the UK it is estimated that around 380,000 people are without a home, almost equal to the population of Manchester. It projects that this figure could rise to one million by 2020 on present trends. Some of these people are the “hidden homeless” since they only manage to keep off the streets by staying in various forms of temporary accommodation, bed & breakfast lodgings, squatters and sharing overcrowded accommodation with friends or family. It is very worrying

I think that happen because of the economical condition of that country. In Indonesia, there are also some kids and some poor people who don't have their own home. They always sleep under the gates, under fly over, or in front of the shop. I think the government should take care of this problem. I think some of people who care about this situation can try to make an institution or society that can help to to get a better live.

I think some people really have no alternative to being homesless, but some do choose to live on the streets, for whatever reason. I can't understand it myself, if someone chooses to do this. I wouldn't be able to live on the streets, I could never sleep for fear of being attacked or robbed. I know there are lots of homeless people in my city, but there are some homeless shelters and soup kitchens to help too.

I am from Philippines too, and there are several homeless too inn the particular place i am living. Somehow I also wonder about that, perhaps it's how they interpret life... when there families are poor, then their children may perceive that they are poor too, that's why they would stick to way of living... and you know most homeless families have so many children, and they would remained uneducated until they would get married at there very young age because you know their parents could not advice them to study because their most priority is to find way to eat even twice or once day!!!! Child labor is the number one cases... I could not picture out this a fault of the government, but the fault of the people themselves... but when the government would find some ways to give remedy to this them it might help... but as we know, change is always coming and should be started first by the people... by each person!!!

hi reco, You know what, most of the time I pity those who don't own a shelter or a decent home. It is hard not to have basic things and necessities that are so important to our daily lives. I truly pity most of them and I always make some effort to help even in my small ways. Although like what you've said there are times that we judged them of not doing something to better themselves or situation. I can't agree more on the fact that in a way they should have make some real effort to get the things to survive and not just ask for it. But more than thinking about their lack of abilities to provide for themselves I also must look into consideration that all of them don't want to be in that kind of situation and our government should make some huge effort to diminish homeless people in our country.

I've been in community service more than once and i'm also from the philippines. From what i know, these people work twice as hard as those people who has day jobs. It's just that their work is more on labor. If It's just so that you're being paid for how much work you do in a day i'd say they would be the highest paid.

As what I have observed usually the homeless people are just spreading out here in Manila and I don't have any idea about other provinces if they had great numbers of homeless compare here in Manila. My first opinion about this is that there are other people who has mentality that if they will transfer in Manila they could find a job easily to the extent that they will be successful but then if they are here they would realized it is really hard to invest here in Manila compare to their provinces. About being an NPA even the people that are stable in life, meaning they are not necessarily rich but the truth is it is really hard to invest for homes it can be in rural and urban area since every now and then you have to pay for bills as well and yet it is not easy to earn money from work. It depends on who's to blame but usually it is easy to say that it was the person's fault as well but even they exert too much effort in working they took much hard to earn because of other responsibilities like being a bread winner in a family.

Back in my country, there's lots and lots of homeless ppl each in big cities. There are lots of factor. Lack of work in their villages, trying to find better opportunity in big cities, runaway children, etc. For me I think some of them it's not about not working hard, but the social welfare from the government also affect their way of how they can get jobs. Low education rates also affected them a lot. So their chance to have a better job and salary also very limited. Just enough to make them survive in the city.

we do have a lot of homeless people here in the philippines huh..but it's not that they're "squatters;, or "npa's", it's just that they don't have the means to have one. believe me, if you go and ask them why, they would say, we don't have the money for a home right now. all of their energy and attention is focused on how to get their food, when to get it and what to eat. there are shelters for these people all around our country, but unfortunately, we don't know about it, or have no information about it. which sucks...
