i have a friend who is like this.. http://www.asylum.com/2010/05/19/preppers-a-growing-network-preparing-for-world-destruction/?icid=main|htmlws-main-n|dl8|link6|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.asylum.com%2F2010%2F05%2F19%2Fpreppers-a-growing-network-preparing-for-world-destruction%2F completely convinced in some great catastrophic events bearing down on us according to the mayan calander slated for december 1012. ive experienced many from the older generations that still horde food and keep their money in coffee cans.. and now theyre breeding a new generation of Future Fearers. while im all for self reliance and the knowledge to take care of yerself during natural disasters and storms or other unpedictable accidents.. some things just go a bit overboard into the obsessive. and with 1012 rounding the corner very quickly.. corporations are profitting on the publics paranoia same as they did back for Y2K. having grown up the way i did.. im fairly skilled in how to survive if need be. i know how to plant, hunt, forage & fish, and can cook anything on an open fire (which, yes, i can start in just about any situation thanx to my gym class in highschool which was rather unorthodox to say the least) and after building umpteen hide-outs and forts in the woods with my younger brother.. im also pretty handy at constructing decent shelter out of just about anything, no tools required. but what of you city folk? those of you who grew up with concrete as yer back yards, and never knowing until you were an adult just how the packaged meats got onto the store shelves.. if you even learned it then. are you caving in to public panic? stocking up on canned goods, water purification tablets and fire arms waiting for this sposed impending d00m? where will YOU be when chicken little comes screaming that the sky has fallen?

H Tessah, I am one for always being prepared so I do have water purification tablets and wat I call a provisons cupboard etc at home but this is more for times like we had earlier in the year where noboady could get out because of snow and ice and have ihn the past been flashflooded so it is more for times like these or if I am skint and waiting of pay day I have powered milk to use sort of thing. Tins are always being raided. I know a lot of calendar predict the end of the world, I see it as a major change in the world thats coming rather than a disaster as such but who knows we will just have to wait and see but I would rather be the optomist than the pessimist full of doom and gloom in my everyday life. I come from a city area but do know how to grow stuff etc. Huggles. Ellie :D
