These two words may seem the same in meaning but they are not. People often interchangeably and incorrectly used it in many ways. I myself didnt know the difference until i lost my mum with heart attack. If high blood pressure runs along in your family, you might be at risk of a heart attack and stroke. Arming yourself with enough information about these two words might save you or anyone in your family. Both heart attack and stroke can happen if there is blockage in the artery. This artery supplies blood to the heart and brain. Now here's the difference.. * if the artery that supplies blood to the heart is BLOCKED then HEART ATTACK happens. * if the artery that supplies blood to the brain is BLOCKED then that would be STROKE. This blockage are caused by fatty deposits which causes the wall around the arteries hardened and makes it hard for the blood to pass through. These are some of the risks that causes these problems.. * high blood pressure or cholesterol * smoking * lack of exercise * family background or history * overweight * fatty foods Fatty deposits do not build up overnight. Its a long process of having and taking fatty diets with every meal. Through the years it will store in your artery wall making it hard for the blood to pass through and supply where its needed. If you have one or two of these risks factors, a regular monitoring and check up may do you well. It will also help if one can identify symptoms associated with it . For the heart attack symptoms * severe pain in your chest that radiates in your arms and jaw. * sudden weakness * dizziness * breaking out in cold sweat * nausea * shortness of breath For the Stroke * sudden numbness of the face, arms and other parts of the body * trouble talking or understanding * loss of coordination * sudden confusion * trouble seeing in both eyes or one Do not delay if your having one or two of these symptoms. Its a life and death emergencies, ask your doctor and seek help immediately.
