How much does it cost to get into your dump?

I was just responding to a discussion and thought about this one, so figured I'd start it. How much does it cost to get into your local dump? I believe it's three dollars for us. We don't go that often, but when we do we usually have a load, and of course the stuff is usually big (big items). How far away from you is your dump? We live in a small county, our dump is about 20 minutes away I would say. Though it's easy to get to, we only have to go down four roads, five if you count our own road.

Our local dump is on the edge of the part of town I happen to live in. I am not sure how much it costs but I know the cost seems to go up all the time. I used to go quite a bit with my ex but haven't been there in a dozen years. It is probably about 20 minutes away from here too. Small world, huh?

Very Small World. I don't know if the costs really goes up here, I think $3.00 is pretty good though. Here it's by vehicle type so I guess the price stays pretty much the same.

Hi SomeCowgirl, our dump is about 10 miles out of town and you get in free but they charge by the cubic feet and I don't remember how much pre cubic feet. and they are only open three to two times a week. Take care Snow

We are charged by the type of vehicle. I say $3.00 as I believe that's the amount we have to pay for a truck. Honestly we are already in the dump by the time we pay so if no one is out there we could be dishonest and just dump our things and go! It wouldn't be fair though. Our is open every day except for Sunday, and on Saturday's it closes early, or maybe it's open on Sunday as well and closes early as well, I forget.

Hi somecowgirl, I wish that ours were open all week long, but it's not. I enjoyed our little chat and thanks for responding back to me. Snow

Our dump calls itself a "transfer station" and I believe that is what happens, everything gets bundled and transferred. Actually, it's official name is the McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility. We pay a fee on our monthly utility bill and then we are not charged, except for old tires.Contractors pay by weight, I believe. There is also a place to sort out our recycling, and another place where we can leave usable things that we no longer need. We live directly across the city if you were to draw a diagonal line. Mileage from it is less than five miles.

My husband and I were out of the county yesterday, and saw a "transfer station", I didn't know what it was but I guess now I do. We have a recycling center but where we live the recycling truck doesn't come down here. We hardly go to the dump, but maybe thrice a year. Haha, so the transfer station is five miles from your house? I can't say how many miles ours is, but it takes 20 minutes, give or take. We usually take a road that pretty much is right by the road that the dump is on.

Hi, SomeCowgirl. The cost that I know of is, free, if you are dumping your regular trash at the dumping site. I never knew of us having to pay. As far as I know of. If there is a charge, I don't know about it. The dumping site that is the closest to us is much farther down the road. It will take us about 10 minutes to get there. With me, I will just dump my trash in the trash bin at our apartment complex.

The cost is low here, and ya know I think you can even get a year pass or something like that? I guess that's for those who are constantly dumping things throughout the year. We don't have a curbside pickup like other counties do. Everything we don't want either goes to the dump or to goodwill for us.

It is really informative about the matter and also we come across how things happen indifferent parts of the world. In our area the government provides certain selected places where the dump cylinders are provided. All the dump is collected here and daily in the morning hours a van comes and empties the dump this is their duty. We shall not pay anything for this service - but yearly once we have to pay the municipal tax which includes this.It is a nominal amount being shared for this type or work.

There are only a few apartment buildings in my county where usually a dumpster is found. There are dumpsters at restauraunts, or some restauraunts as well. Here though our trash is picked up every Wednesday, but there are some things that are too big so we wait until we have a handful of items and then go to the local dump. We don't have a recycling truck that comes down here, but I believe it is a free service if it were to come down here. The trash costs but it's only $30.00 a month. The dump only $3.00 I believe, or it all depends on the type of vehicle actually.

Wow, what a coincidence i came across this discussion, because my husband and i were just discussing this morning, about how we're going to stop our trash service. Ours is like less than ten miles away and i think it is only three dollars. We'll be finding out on Monday, because we're in the process of slicing all bills in half.-----------As long as the men of my house keep the snakes and field rats out of our trash, then i'm all for doing it ourselves trash service.

Huh oh wow! Well whod've thought! I love when I think about something and then suddenly I find a discussion about it, it happens rarely but is still fun. How much does your trash service cost you? I think ours is $50.00 every two months. We only go to the dump for the bigger things. I know the dump here offers passes for a year, maybe you could look into that at your dump so that you don't have to keep paying the $3.00.
