some people really have this ability of playing instruments well. whenever i see people who read notes and press those piano keys really well, i really would dream that someday, i can be like them. however, i find it hard to play the piano well. are patience and perseverance enough? can i play instruments without that innate talent?

Patience and perseverance helps but in my personal opinion i think for you to be able to play any kind of instrument you should have the willingness to learn. And for me you should really love the instrument you planned on playing 'coz otherwise if your heart wasn't really on that instrument it'll make you crazy. Hypothetically speaking. Besides it's natural to get frustrated at first. We all do have to start from scratch to be able to get our goal. You just have to be very eager about it though and motivation helps a lot. And practice. You don't have to be gifted to play an instrument. Goodluck! ;-]

I play the violin (5 years), piano (4 years), flute (1 year), and the guitar (few months) and I have to say that once you learn one instrument, you can probably pick up others more easily.
