In fact this is very old saying and we have been following it. We have learnt in our school times that the pen is mighter than the sword. However, do you think that the pen is really mighter than the sword? In the present day context does this saying hold true? Please contribute your views. Thanks in advance.

i believe it is true. but now pen is not related with only pen in genuine meaning. Now the meaning is spreading for anything that had written just like newspaper, magazine and also internet.

Yes, it is not only the written on paper but also many things spoken or even some postures can work better than the weapons. That is why I think that we can modify this saying as "Words are mighter than weapons".

As a writer, writing is very important and this has helped a lot of people in history. And I am not just talking about journalists but all who write in anything and help people through their writing. So i believe the pen is mightier than the sword. (or a laptop). hahaha :D

I think that it is right for all, and not only for the writers. Our history proves that pen has been mighter than sword in the end.

I do feel that the pen is mightier than the sword. Anything taken, or gained by force is not genuine, and short lived. If you use a weapon to do harm against someone to make them follow what you believe, or do what you want, then they will never truly see what you see. All that they know is they are afraid of you, so they better do what they're told if they want to survive. But once you are gone, they can continue with their old ways. If you use the "pen" Explain your feelings, explain to people why you think the way you do, why they should do things your way, then they might learn something, and understand you more, and are more likely to agree with the things that you want, and are more willing to change their ways. The sword gets things done right now. But the pen makes change that lasts for centuries.

pen is indeed mightier than sword.you cannot take back a hurtful word/s that you said.it may be forgotten, but it will leave a deep scar.a hurtful word/s leave a wound that isn't visible and goes straight to a person't feelings.it can penetrate deeper.

I believe it is still true and will remain true forever. One reason is writing will last longer than the swords useage. Another reason is that knowledge is power. Just the knowledge of something can change the outcome for that item. I also believe this to be true because wars have generally always been ended by signing a treaty in pen.

Thant is really great thinking....! I fully agree with you that most wars have ended by signing a treaty with pen only.

this is a classic old saying but i think it gots it roots in terms of warfare. a sword can only be used to fight and cause war but the pen can both start and end wars with the signing of peace treates i think this is where i got its roots im not sure

practically it is true.. Let take for example you attack a person because you believe that what he/she do to you is not fair by the use of sword..Who do you think win..NONE of them..but the one who use sword will surely suffer..He will be accused of murder put to jail and destroy his credibility and integrity.. Sword is equivalent to emotion, sudden emotion of anger.. But not the one who use pen, because he/she think tactically.. Pen is equivalent to mind..knowledge is power.. If you think a person done something wrong to you( civil) 1.write him a letter, let you know his/her response. 2.Have an aid of a competent attorney. We have good laws written by pen that can help you.. Criminally: 1.Have an aid of competent lawyer..again,we have good laws written by pen that can help you.. 2.Seek the help of a policeman, their function are written by great man..To serve and protect.. In time of war.. A careful planning and use of pen in necessary..if mind is cover with emotion defeat will follow..A good general is much better than having a good soldier..A good soldier even how good and strong he in fight.WE will be defeated if is general is not good to make a strategical attack.. 2.

in this day and age... for example a person with a good job and lots of money is more powerful then somebody who can fight. so yes the pen is mighty then the sword
