Hello mylotters, I used to hear the saying that "Lawyers are liars" you think they really are? why you think so? could it be just some expressions those who are against the lawyers? Or they were really called liars because in order for them to win a case of their clients they need to make up stories what is supposed to be actually wrong into a right one? Happy mylotting.

I think that all defense attorneys are liars, because their title is to "defend", no matter what (only the one's who're getting PAID). They'll pull out all stops and bend rules. They'll make a person who did the most hidious crime look like an angel, if the money is right.

no i don't think so that all defence attorneys are liars. There have been many cases where the innocent people are also accused of something they haven't done. Who do think save them a liar or a lawer.

Hi sheanne, Yes I believe so..2 of my closest friends are lawyers & they told me that in order to win a case they are handling no matter what...whatever it takes...they need to defend their client...even if they need to lie they will do it...so I believe that lawyers are liars..not that they intended to but they need/have to.LOL

hi there sheanne. nice topic. =) lawyers are liars. nice but not true. i think it should be a compliment to lawyers out there. i've read a lot of materials about the profession. they are not really liars. it is quite a tough job for a lawyer to make his/her client, either the prosecutor or the defendant, to be one to win the case. no matter how hopeless the case is, they have to have a strong defense to make their client rise above the whole process. it's not to twist the story, however, it is to make the other side be open to vulnerable and weak defense. and if you really look into a case, all things stated in the court must be with precision and verification. one false evidence or statement can lead their defense in trouble. and lawyers do not resort to lying. lookng at lawyers outside the courtroom, they probably could be liars becasue they can convince you believe what is not true...though not technically a lie, it still in the same umbrella. regardless of what htey say about lawyers, i still wish to be a lawyer. such a stressful and yet challenging job. =)

Hello goddessjes. There was a time that I wanted to be a lawyer too but the medical calling prompted me more to follow it through. I do hope you'll be a good lawyer too one day. Thank you so much for sharing.

I am a law student and in two years I will be going to become a lawyer. This question is so contently heard by everybody however I will say something, when a lawyer takes the responsibility of a client he maintains the duty to save him and to save an innocent we might even fittingly choose the appropriate wordings and issues.

Hello med, wow that's so cool. Thank you for sharing. So you mean to say by all means you have to lie just to save your client who actually did wrong?

I think not all lawyers are good and not all are also true .. but I know that deep within they have conscience that can tell whether they do is right or wrong so it's up to them if they will do what is really right or not..

It's a nice question but we can't generalise it to every lawyers. Maybe some can set up some stories and use lies to win a case which mean that they are money-minded lawyers but there are also those who are really honest with their work and does not support lies. It depends on the lawyers. The statement cannot be applied to all. Regards

I think lawyers do what they're paid for.. they put together the best case with the information that they've been given. Some may bend the truth a little, but at the end of the day nobody would hire them if they didn't. It's their job to find loopholes in the law, or find witnesses that nobody else has found.. basically to prove the innocence of their customer.

Not all lawers are liars but most of them are so. Most of them fight for their client and will go to tell lot many lies just for the money. Whatever it takes just win the case is their moto. They do not care who is victim and who is not but they want to make money out of their argument to prove someone wrong.

Ha ha...I don't want to pass up this topic because I myself have some questions bugging me about the legal profession. I'm not a lawyer but I hope some lawyer-member of mylot will respond to this. I know lawyers have an obligation to their clients and are bound by their professional ethics to defend them at all cause - even if they have to lie through their teeth to do so. But what bugs me though is that no matter how guilty their client is (in a criminal case, for example), they'll do everything in their power and skill to prove their innocence. There is this recent sensational murder case, for example: from all angles even with eyes closed, one can easily conclude that the suspect is guilty as charged. The lawyer defending him was one of the best trial lawyer in the business. Yet he took and won his case. His client got out free and committed another murder a few days later. I know there is this statement in legal parlance that " a person is presumed innocent unless proven otherwise". But my question is: what is the deciding factor for lawyers to consider in accepting or rejecting a case? For the money? For publicity? What???

maybe no all of them, we can't really generalize them. Some lawyers are liars because they defend a guilty person for money- but there are still very few good lawyers who defend the truth..

In many cases we will feel that they are liars. They have to frame the facts that they are genuine and true. In order to have a co-relation between the events of happenings it should look alright. So that the 'gap' among the event they have to fill with certain 'adjective's and all. Some cases, they may be referring to old case laws and similar verdicts so as to get support from the earlier similar events. But when seriously speaking, they would frame lots of additional events which are irrevalant to make the facts to believe. I have no experience directly. 4 of my school mates are lawyers and advocates. Even my neighbor is a well known advocate. But I never ask them whether is it correct. They have to prove certain things. So it is a must adopt position for them to help to prove their clients requirements. Regards, Thank-s

Actually lawyers are not the one that's making up the stories. They're the one asking questions in the court. Witnesses, suspects and victims are the one that can lie in the court. And its up to the lawyers to know the truth behind their words. So I don't know why they're saying that lawyers are liars.

Many lawyers don't lie they just mislead and confuse to win a conviction.

ALMOST all people (if not everybody), must have lied at least once in his/her lifetime - people from all wallks of life, including lawyers. But I believe being a good lawyer doesn't mean one has to be a good liar --- it's just a matter of NOT telling the entire truth at all times. Hehehehe. I am a first year law student, I hope I can finish the entire course and survive law school. This is my motto: Telling only half the truth is not the same as lying. Yet telling a single lie (even if it's white), is considered dishonesty. Hehehe, lol, in a way I find it funny whenever I say that to myself and to everyone else. LoL.

I believe all lawyers especially defense lawyers are a bunch of liars. I would never trust a lawyer that would defend a criminal. I believe for them to win their cases they have to stretch the truth or make up lies. This is why I don't like lawyers. I don't understand why parents would ever say grow up and become a lawyer. A doctor yes a lawyer NO WAY!

Perhaps, a good lawyer can be in his position to fight for real justice. But some, they took the advantage for personal gain. I've seen some of them, they took the chances of winning but not balancing the real justice.
