I have a pet dog who has been with me for the last 12 years and he is getting old. We have a fair degree of understanding of each other, I understand his moods and facial expressions and so does he. Yet sometimes I want to tell him a little more like it is going to rain, or that I am going for a shopping or how was the day etc;He does not understand such things and then he just barks at me in a particular way, a jovial one I must say as if he listened to a joke. I wish if I could talk to him as to a friend things a little more serious than running after mangoose, or taking food. There seems to be a gap between our levels of understaning which cannot be overcome. All the same he is happy in staying with me than with his own kind. Why this creature called dog takes so much liking to man ,even more than to its own race. May be God knew that selfish humans will fail in being a solace to each other especially in old age and so created dog to be more loyal than humans.Dog do not abandon no matter in what condition you are. It may starve along with you but will not leave you. What a magnificent a creature dog is. Thank God for this companion.

I too have a dog. We call her 'Ruby' and so is her life. She is like a queen in our home or i can say she is treated like one. Very understanding, smart and caring little girl. She is 6 years old now and won't leave the house except for times of the nature's call. Even when she is out one of us keep our eyes on her and so does she... checking to see if any of us is there or she will just run inside the gate and pee in the front yard or in the bathroom :) She gives a very big welcome to any known visitors.. known to her that is. especially my mom has the biggest welcome and loving licks when she comes back home. Though my brother and I stay at the hostel she knows we are part of the family as well :) The most unique character that i noticed she has and the character which amazes me and the character I most like in her is, when you beat her when she is done a mistake she accepts the punishment(with hatred though... but she won't defend with her teeth instead use her paws to push your hands off from beating) and if you are going to punish her for reason then better be prepared to meet the doctor for a good many number of injections around your belly-button he he :D After her in my home, I just think why dogs have only 15-20years of life... i have tears in my eyes at thoughts of having to forget her but separation is also a part of life and I don't want to miss the little moments I am going to spend with our little pet girl having such thoughts...
