Will you fall for someone with a not so good a reputation?

I just wonder now, how to deal with the idea of falling for someone with a not so good a reputation with colleagues, as in he's not a MR. NICE GUY, to everyone else around, not a typical guy that women will fall for, he's not actually a bad guy as I was told by my friend, but he's not a favorite and well loved personality among his peers. How can this be dealt with/ specially if people will found out about the romance, they will talk, and it will not be a welcome news for them.

I am not sure what kind of guy we are going to discuss here.. If this guy is involved in illegal activities then the girl will most certainly get into trouble...
If he is a loner or 'unsocial' then there isn't anything wrong... The girl has chosen her own way, right? If he is starightforward and honest, but unpopular in office, then also there is no problem.. If he doesn't look very good, still there is no problem...
