I'am a Chinese student and i have some difficulties to understand the following sentences. Can you make them easy to understand?? 1.We still employ crude stereotypes about our fellow citizens based on their class, wealth or home province, instead of working together. For this sentence,i can't get what's the meaning of "employ crude stereotypes about our fellow citizens". 2.Losing Shanghai stocks outnumbered gainers by 552 to 347,while turnover fell to a one-and-a-half month low of 78 billion yuan from Friday's 106 billion yuan. For this one,it's the "Losing Shanghai stocks outnumbered gainers by 552 to 347"

#1."employ crude stereotypes about our fellow citizens" What this means is that people still judge someone entirely off of their class, wealth or home province, and that those judgements are usually mean, bad, and wrong. For EXAMPLE: "The poor farmers from the Qinghai province are a bunch of dirty thieves!!" is a crude stereotype about your fellow citizens. #2."Losing Shanghai stocks outnumbered gainers by 552 to 347" What this means is that the number (quantity) of stocks that fell (losing stocks) was greater then the number (quantity) of stocks that rose (gainers). For every 552 stocks that fell, there were 347 stocks that rose.
