The Oilspill may have historic implications as it relates to the economy, changing the environment and being the impetus that we needed as a country to push us an Oil based enomy and a Green economy. The Oil spill will make rise the price of gas from 273 National average and 400 dollar average. There may be an epic shortage of food especially fish could effect other food industries as the posibilitie of contamination could with the oil possible assimilating into ecosystems of all the 50 states . It will put thousand of people out of work. A big positive will be we as country will be in the beginning of our transfer out of a oil based economy. It make our transer to a green economy a National and collective cause. Green energies will mostly include, electrical and solar cars. Nuclear energy and a utility power source. The Oil spill will have a maor impact changing our society. Short term this is one of the greatest problems this coun try has but in the face of great challenges our the possinilities of great opportunity.

i admire your optimistic look at the situation. you are seeing the glass as half full rather than half empty. yes the oil spill has already occurred, there is very little we can do apart from hoping and praying that the government together with BP is able to clean up the mess. it is thought that there is no greater impetus for change than the occurance of a disaster such as what we are witnessing in the gulf of mexico. the question is weither Americans are ready for change to a greener oil free economy and if so, what steps will the government take towards this change. America prides itself as being the worlds leading trend setter. the world needs a drastic change and who better to lead this process than America.

Very deep and very intelligent arguement. I agree with you however as Obama found out in the Health care scene you can want something and know you need something but that does not mean everyone will go along peacefully. Intelligent arguement. Prepare yourself for alot of debates to help expand our intellectual base.

i only have one problem why do you not consider nuclear as a form of green energy, another thing is the reason why we need oil and coal is because green energy is NOT and will never likely to be avialable everywhere. and did you kno that solar cells are soo inefficent that they will never give back during their lifetime the amount of energy it took to make it in the first place. just remember solar cells are made of copper, silicon glass and some other metals all of with have high melting points
