how does an email become a spam email?

even some discussions here in mylot fall in my spam folder. am just curious for spam emails made time magazine's 50 worst inventions together with farmville of facebook and the venetian blind sunglasses among others. thank god i don't patronize either of the two but of course i open and (if the topic is good) answer the spam emails from fellow mylotters.

Usually if it says you won something in something you didn't enter, it sounds too good to be true site,nonsense emails, or emails that seem like they get sent to everyonebody all the time.
