Usually here in the Philippines, rainy seasons start on the month of June and it also marks the beginning of classes in elementary, secondary and tertiary levels. well, was rainy season the best for learning? It's usually the time when people catch a cold, flu, and other sickness due to the bad weather. I really think that classes should not be started like this since classes were usually suspended during these time. Honestly, I somehow do like classes to be suspended sometimes but I wasn't also able to learn a lot in school already. I hope classes would start on the months when rainy season already be done. What do you think?

I think the schedule of school is just right. Its really hard to study in summer when its too hot. And the school can always held classes every Saturday to make up for the unexpected "holiday".

yes you're right but imagine a one week suspended classes due to typhoons. isn't that bad? There's a survey that was being conducted as to whether students grade be higher during summer classes or regular classes and the result was that during summer students get higher grades. So I guess it's not really hard to study when it's hot. there were also some classrooms with good ventilation so there can be no excuse if classes starts in summer I guess. Thanks for sharing your thought juggerogre

Summer in my point of view is too hot to study! But having suspended classes because of typhoons is an old thing for me since I got into college. Even with high rains and typhoons as long as its not signal 4 classes will be ongoing.

here in the States, they run school from fall to spring, now a days, they tend to start before Sept and end in June. used to be that they would start after the harvest and end with the planting so the farm kids could help their parents of course, few people live on farms any more and they do offer schools with year around schooling - on 3 months, off a few weeks education is done while children can't be helping their parents - so I can see why they schedule school during the rainy season in your country...

If I know anything, I know my history - even if I'm a big city gal, I remember it wasn't even a hundred years ago that most people were still rural.

I guess you have a good point that might probably one reason why it was started that month but in here there were only few students who work in the farm though. I was amazed on how you see it and how you analyzed it. Thanks for responding Elic

If that would happen(wait for the rainy seasons to be done) then we'll have to suffer going classes until summer. June and July are the months that would be rainy and considering that we must be in school for 10months, so it means if you'll start going to school around August then the school year would end at the month of May and it may cause a lot of people to experience heat stroke. either way, there are disadvantages. i experienced that and we kinda hate it, just because of the ah1n1 (1week suspension of classes) then all the typhoons last year caused us a lot. we suffered from still going to classes until the end of April. and it sucks, when all of the students were already enjoying their summer vacation while us are still in school. And what we hated most is the weather. It almost kills us. for me, there's no way to escape dilemmas. and we're all used to go to school at the month of June, so why do change it? that's my opinion.

hmm... I wonder what school are you into? Is it somewhere in Manila, I've watched a news about that in the past and it's really has a big disadvantage though. hopefully things will work out this time and there will be lesser suspension of classes to make students be able to concentrate in their studies. Thanks for commenting chuax!

I think June is okay to start classes. If you start classes earlier like March, then we would again whine about the weather being too hot. Rain is better than hot weather. Since, rain you can wear a raincoat and do stuff still. But during hot weather spending a lot of hours in a classroom tends to be unproductive due to the heat.

Really? was your classrooms don't have a good ventilation? What if they would have an aircon for your classrooms would you like to start the class during summer?

Going to school in a rainy day is awful, I agree with you of this. But officers always careless about these...

In an educational standpoint you are right that it should not start in the rainy season. Actually it would be best for the vacation period be this season. This would prevent suspension of classes and interruptions to the learning of students. It would also prevent sometimes the difficulty of going to school when it's raining.

I agreed with you I always catch cold and cough there when I attended school going to that flood type when raining season but here it's the same school opens in almost winter month of September where my kids go to school. that's the way they do it what else we can do.

I've been thinking that since I was high school. If I'm in CHED I'll change the school schedule. Why not to start it on September. I think students will have good grades because absences will be lessen.
