I don't have a family yet but i try to analyze myself with regards to spending money. I realized that there's always the wants and the needs. To save money, i try to tone down or compromise the wants and preserve only the needs. Hope this helps. :)

Sometimes we don't realize when or where we've spent our money. It's very hard to earn but very easy to loose. It's necessary to get a good control over our money, so what I also do is writing down every time I spend part of it, how many and for what it was. So at the end of the month, I can check what I really spent and what I could have changed (or what I shouldn't have spent). To save money, it's important to have control about it.

It is really hard nowadays for everyone to save. I try to spend less than I earn, to increase my income and reduce my outcome. How may we reduce our outcomes? Reducing the usage of electricity (use candles or gas instead), water, petroil (use the bus instead the car...), we even eat less than before, I only by the food which is really necessary like fruit and vegetables, but no desserts, chocolates, etc. We eat every day at home instead of going out. When we want to eat outside, I already prepare meals at home and we take them to a place in the nature especially prepared for barbecues or we make an excursion and eat anywhere the meals I prepaired. There are many things we can do to save a bit of money but sometimes it is still not enough.

My husband and I are having a difficult time saving some money as well. We don't have children yet, but we're still having a rather difficult time doing. We are doing the best that we can, under the circumstances, but sometimes, it just doesn't feel like it's enough.

Hi, You are absolutely true that the economy is worse now.No care has been taken by any politician and people are facing too many troubles to survive even.I know that saving is must for unseen events but how is it possible? Well.we have to live the life.

My husband and me both have full-time work. From the time we got married to our daughter reached one-year-old,we have not save any money.I have not imagined a little baby can expend so much, the milk poder, diaper, toys, books and clothings, all of them are so expensive. But when she began to eat porridge and rice lately,we began to save money little by little every month.Every time we got our salary,I would put three quarters to bank, and tried to use the left money for a month's expenses. If you can make up your mind,it's not too difficult to save money.

We are finding it hard too, we are a family of 6 with my husband working full-time in an office and I am a housewife. As you say, everything has got more expensive - gas, electric, petrol, food, etc. We are buying more Value Brands at the supermarket. We try to limit the amount of heating we use, we wash clothes on lower temperatures, turn off lights when we can, etc. but we never have any savings. Otherwise, try online review sites, survey sites, etc. - like Dooyoo, Ciao, Global Test Market, Opinion People, that kind of thing.
