Hi I've always been fascinated by Japan and Japanese. Today I was searching some free podcasts to learn Japanese. I found Japanesepod101.com and their lessons are good but You often have to pay for the good material. Does anyone know something like this? By the way does anyone out there think those programs work actually? Anyone has got experiences to share? greetings

yea i tried the roseatta stone japanese v1.1 it wasnt too good you can learn how to say the words but not how to write them because they never showed the english equavelent(romanji characters) and that made it difficult to do so. i was also able to read a book its called dirty japanese or something like that, this book is very VERY funny to read if you dont mind the dirty language in it you can learn a lot from this book, i would also recomend you to gets some books on the subject

Thanks a million. Well at first it's the spoken language I want to learn. I guess it might help me understand kanji a little faster.

The Book that I always suggest to other people and my friend are " Minna No Nihongo ". Minna No Nihongo is the best one for beginner. It's 4 book there are Minna No Nihongo1, Minna No Nihongo2,Minna No Nihongo3, Minna No Nihongo4. It's come with CD. You can listen it with japanese accent. If you never learn it before, I'll suggest you to buy some Hiragana and Katakana pratice book to try to write and remember it well before use Minna No Nihongo series. Learning lanuages are so funny. If you want to expert, you'll always try to pratice it. Hope you enjoy it. Good luck :)

There is a flash card program you can download called BYKI, or Before you Know It. One of the available languages they have is Japanese. I've used it and I think it is a nice program for learning vocabulary words. This program is free. If you do a search from any search engine for Japan my love, you can probably find the video series from NHK World. These are Japanese teaching videos.
