Tips to Stave Off Heart Palpitation

When you feel like you are about to have a palpitation: 1. Cough with an open mouth. I read how people having a heart attack are advised to cough continuously until help comes. Experts say coughing helps the heart to beat regularly again. 2. Drink cool water. This helps you relax, especially during hot days. 3. Sit down and relax. It's important to think positive always. Think that the palpitations are decreasing and will soon subside. 4. Sleep well--7 to 8 hours a day. Take naps in the afternoon. 5. Get rid of unnecessary stress. Learn to let go. Learn to keep your peace, even in tight situations or in emergencies. I discover that this can be gained through practice. 6. Eat healthy and exercise regularly. 7. Don't slouch. Keep your body erect but relaxed all the time. This is important if your palpitation is triggered by reflux as in my case. 8. Last but not least, have a regular check with your doctor.

Hi Cook. Sounds easy enough but in a lot of cases it isn't that easy. You forgot one thing to take an asprin. I only know this cause I only know this cause I had a friend that was having a heart attack and that is what the doctor told them to do. I guess I am pretty lucky (thank God) I don't have any health problems. All great suggestions. I am lucky my husband was a medic in the Navy and he knows a lot of how to keep healthy. Thanks for all the suggestions.

well, i'm happy for you and your husband. i have good overall health, too, except for this short palpitations which seldom occur, anyway. i thank God that i'm still athletic at 50! hihihi! yup, aspirin is good, but i would rather that folks take it with doctor's approval. good day, pal!

Hi Cook. Your right if your going to take an aspirin it is always good to ask the doctor about it. We are pretty active daily so we stay in good health thank God. Stay in good shape my friend and keep God on your side and all will work out according to Gods will. Hope you have a great day my friend!

I find that I can control my breathing in such a way that it sends relaxation through my body and this eases palpitations, can't really explain what I do all the best urban
