If you could instantly become fluent in another language, which language would you pick and why?

One of the most difficult languages? Na... I was able to learn it. You can do it too Joeshen. Armed with interest and time before you know it you will be fluent in the language you want to learn:-)

ASL (American Sign) so I could communicate better with The Boy (my son) and so we could all learn as a family. We are learning though a little at a time. I won a contest through the help of some friends and the lady who ran the site I won from has gotten to be a bit of a friend. I helped her with some program design work so she enrolled my 11 yr old in her upcoming home school course on ASL. You know I'll be right there too so we can learn together.

I actually wish they would teach ASL in public schools here. At my workplace, a Veterinary clinic, I often come across hearing impaired people and it feels so stupid to not being able to communicate with them properly. Sometimes the people have kids with them who'll interpret but many other times we just stand there and have to write everything down on paper. It would be so much easier if everyone would have at least some general knowledge of this :(

I would probably choose spanish or chinese. Why? because spanish is just nice to use, chinese because I think it would be of good use in business.

It would be a language that sounds nice and it's Spanish for me. And as I've heard it's difficult to speak Spanish or understand Spanish people because they talk too fast.
