I dont think internet itself is the reason why people are ruined most of the times. I believe it is in everybodies discretion on how good or bad they will be using their internet but as for my understanding internet is not at all bad. We can actually use internet to do good in so many ways for all of us people.

I agree. I don't think internet is the main reason. It's how people use the internet that ruins them. If people use it for research and earning money or connecting with friends, it isn't such a terrible thing. If they use it for entertainment or illegal practices, then it does. But people ruin themselves. Not the internet.

In every society you're going to have some people, who shall we say for lack of a better diesription, are "Sociopaths". That group includes the recently mentioned in a previous dicussion "SCAMMER". Those kind of people will always be around unfortunately. Each and everyone of us must take whatever legal steps to protect ourselves on the net. Not only does "Big Brother" watch us so does the criminal element in our various societies. A case in point: I was scammed about a year ago with the ole "LUCKY DRAWING" scam. The deal was I had won a New BMW sport car and 1000,000lb. They didn't ask for any really personal info like bank info or anything like that. They only wanted my SS no. Well the made it sound so good I went for it. As it turns out all they wanted was to hijack my hotmail email. One day I went to it nad could not access my own account. I find out later all 330 of my contacts received a phoney ltr.supposedly from me asking for $1500 US dollars. The ltr. stated I supposedly was stranded in some mideast country and need the money to get home. I live in Thailand and all my friends knew it was a scam. To answer the question; "PEOPLE" can ruin the net and people can also make it a better place to communicate by doing what I see here on "MyLot". CO-OPERATE and when we spot something that doesn't look right report it. "If it sounds too good to be true, It probably is!

It depends on the user of internet. If the user of internet became addicted in playing games is bad. If the user of internet spend time in gathering knowledge that is related to his/her skill is good. Internet is good for those who earn money from it. Parents must guide their children to use the internet in good purpose.

what about when the seemingly innocent gathering the info he/she gathers is related to their skill of 'FRUAD"? that's ok too? And what about when this seemingly innocent person uses his "harmless" info to scam others out of money? By the same token this same scammer has a youngster he's teaching the ropes of scamming. That's OK? To the scammer and from his point of view that is a "GOOD PURPOSE" " and any money he gains from it only reinforces his offspring to do the same. That ok?

The internet for me, the people who uses the internet for not so good persons are the ones considered bad. The internet has offered quite a lot of conveniences for men. Communication, data gathering and exchange of information has been much much more easier. The internet has also provided jobs and opportunities for people who use it responsibly. If you use the internet wisely and responsible, there is no point in worrying.

Good topic "Absinto". I feel that it all depends on how you use it. As far as children are concerned, and I know everyone is going to come down on me for this one however, It really is up to the parents to supervise the young ones. Sure I agree you can't watch them all the time and the little darlings are really tech savvy. But there are "administrator" controls they can be set up along with various other techniques. It's up to parents to learn these techniques too. I know some of this doesn't sound pratical because youngssters today are really up on this stuff. In this case knowledge of the technology is the key in my humble opinion. What do you think?
