BPI and Paypal

Hi guys, Following up the discussion I have posted a while back about paypal. I would like to ask fellow Pinoys here if we could verify BPI savings/atm account with paypal? It will take time for me to get an EON debit card the bank says 2 weeks and I need to withdraw money. I have an EON card but its payroll I do not know if that would be acceptable. By the way if your Paypal account is unverified could you still withdraw from your BPI card? Also I heard we could use BDO how long does it take to get a BDO savings/atm card?

Almost all major banks in the Philippines have ties with paypal now. Check out pinoymoneytalk.com where it listed down all bank codes for paypal. I cannot copy and paste yet here in mylot so you have to do your own googling. Just search for bank codes for paypal philippines and the article will show up in your search.

My friend works in BPI and I've asked her if that's possible and she said No. Paypal needs your card to have a Visa, Mastercard, or Amex logo before you can confirm your account. BPI ATMs (those blue ones) doesn't have those logos. I am using EON Card Unionbank. So far, I have no hassles with it. When I transfer money from paypal to EON card, it just takes 2 days. So, if I were you, please just wait for your EON to confirm your Paypal to avoid problems.

A lot of bank employees don't know how paypal works. Paypal does not need the Visa, Mastercard or Amex connection to transfer funds. The misconception is there because before, online transactions could only be carried out through credit cards. Nowadays, even debit cards can transact online, if the merchant has ties with a bank. All you need for your online work that pays thru paypal is a bank that allows bank transfers from paypal. It's up to you of course, I was merely pointing out that there are other options other than Eon card now. This is a fairly recent development. I have had an EON card since I started working online. It's convenient for me since I have a relative who works in Unionbank. Plus I have transactions that I can only do with Unionbank so I don't mind. The thing with Unionbank is that they have only a few branches and they have all kinds of charges. I had a very difficult time with them after Ondoy because it took them a long time to fix their one and only branch here in Marikina.

I think I only waited 2 days from the transfer to my paypal to Eon and to be able to withdraw it tru ATM. And I am happy now with paypal, than the older system. (^^,)

I have done it several times. I earned money from pixprofit and reviewstream. They deposited it in my paypal account. I withdrew it thru my EON card. There is a time lag between transferring funds to EON and being allowed to withdraw the money by ATM.

Hi Candyfairy! I got my Eon card as early as 1 week. But you have to enroll it on online banking. Because when you enter your EON card to you Paypal account to get verified. Your Paypal will send a 4 digits number verification to your online banking account of your EON Card. And you have to copy paste and enter them into your verify account box provided in Paypal. So if your Paypal is not verified. You won't be able to withdraw via your EON Card. Being verified means you have link a valid card to your Paypal. Now, I will suggest. Have you tried to enroll your current payroll EON card in the online banking? Why not tried? I think Payroll atm are not only bound to the company. It's still your bank account. If you want to be guided in the online banking registration for EON card. I can help you. No need to tell me your personal details. Just if you have questions. You can message me here or on YM. Send me a Private message if you want. And for BDO and BPI, I don't know how you can use it for Paypal. Maybe you can visit their online site. I think that if they have online banking, it is okay, because I don't know how you could get the 4 digits. But on Paypal, there is a Visa and Master card choice. Just try. But I know fees are deducted for unprocessed or bounced back money because of incorrect bank name, etc... I am not an expert ha. I just had my Eon card activated and I will be happy to help. (^^,)

I have not applied online for my EON card. I went to the nearest branch. Here is a link for the branches of Union bank http://www.unionbankph.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1043&Itemid=468 That can help you. And I presented 2 valid ids, get it xerox first hand so you won't waste time. And it would only take you one week or less to have your card. Especially if you apply at the main branch. Because all cards come from there, as the teller told me. That's why they alloted at least a week for the card to arrive at the branch. So if your payroll atm can't be enrolled online. I think you won't be able to link it to Paypal. But I suggest, you go the nearest branch of Union Bank and ask for clarification. Wait wait, I remember. Did you register for the online banking? You have to fill up the registration first there and wait for 2 days to get your online banking account activated. Maybe that's why you can't access your EON atm payroll yet online. Because you have not yet signed it up for online banking. You have, still, to register your card there. It is not automatically available for the online banking service. Fill up the form with your same details as you made for your EON card payroll. Same name, address..etc...Same infos, and the same also for the one you used for your Paypal to avoid future problems.(^^,)

Hi, Thanks for taking part in this discussion. Yes I would need your help. When did you apply for your Eon account? Because I have tried online but could not find the button. I have searched forums they said that online application for EON card has been stopped. No reasons why it was stopped. My EON payroll as I have tried moments ago was not accepted. And responders to forums I have read says that it needs to have the visa logo on it and mine does not have. I tried enrolling my payroll card online and it won't get accepted. So I was thinking of getting a new Eon but that would take a while and needed to withdraw the money for an urgent use.

I think you could verify BPI atm/saving with paypal. As far as I know, paypal accepts atm. You cannot withdraw money from BPI, you need to verify your account first in paypal.

See the comment provided by TheAdvocate, number 3. I think it could help about the BPI. As long as you have the bank code and copy paste it in the get verified link to your paypal. You can withdraw from your paypal account.(^^,)

Hi Prof, It's not about the debit or credit card thingy but its about which bank to transact. Other banks here charge a lot for withdrawing through paypal. Do you know what bank did your friend use to withdraw paypal?

Hi Labea! Yes, you can still receive your money into your paypal account even if it isn't verified yet. And I think you receive them in dollars. But once you get to withdraw, I don't know if you can withdraw it in dollars. Maybe if you have a dollar account. For me, I withdrawed it in peso. (^^,)

I have tried this before and it failed and discovered that you can only receive money in your local banks only after you verified your paypal account so that only EON, VCC,or your CC and debit cards that are accepted if you have one other than that you cant verify.

I think you could use your Payroll EON Account.. With BPI, I don't think you could use it to verify, but you could use it to withdraw.. You can withdraw your money even if your account is not verified, though I think there is a difference on your limit..

I don't know if you can do it. I have bpi too family and BPI.. And I have BDO atm. But I never try to use them to check if I can be verified. I used my creditcard instead. Although its bpi creditcard. But I never tried saving accounts.. .. I guess paypal only uses credit/debit card as means of verifing.

I guess your EON card will be accepted by Paypal even if it is being used for Payroll. Better used it than BPI. It's the one being used by majority of Pinoys working in online jobs and online businesses.

Hi Candyfairy21, based on my experience with paypal with my EON debit card you can withdraw your money as long as transaction is completed and the processing time takes 2 to 4 banking days, if your paypal account is unverified after one or two transaction they will asked you to prove such account before you can make another withdrawal, you have to prove that you are the owner of that account. What I did is, I scanned may UB EON Debit card , Valid ID and I affix my signature and send it by email. EON DEBIT CARD is the same with payroll card. You will send your proof if they asked you already or if the transaction is pending. They will put some note or mark on the transaction itself. BDO ATM Card, I got mine after a week.
