today is my younger brother's birthday.. we didn't have a grand celebration. i baked him a cake. i also cooked kare-kare, chicken tinola and the ever pabirthday party food, pansit! i know it's usually either pansit or spaghetti but my brother is not a fan of spaghetti so we just had pansit bihon. what is the dish that is never absent on your table during birthdays?

Uhmmm... I think lechon is a dish that is never absent during birthday parties since it is our main dish. Pansit is very essential especially on New Year's eve because it symbolizes long life...

Oh! No... actually we're not. Lechon is very much common during handaan in the province. We can always take care of pigs and when the right time comes, we can cook it. It's no pressure actually.

Spaghetti is always a hit for the kids on birthday celebrations. The older kids like pancit bijon or canton or miki bijon with canton. Sigh! But I like pancit malabon. I have a classier taste, I guess, ha ha!

Pansit or spaghetti is present when we are celebrating our birthdays. I love pancit too especially bihon or canton. It is our tradition to cook pansit during our birthdays for long life.

I think pansit is part of the tradition when having some feast or celebration. We always have pansit during birthdays or fiestas even if spaghetti is already served. I would choose pansit than spaghetti.

yes because spaghetti gives you that umay feeling unlike pansit which is good whether hot or not.

Food and party is not the most important in a birthday. The most important is you're all together happy. Food and party is only secondary. When I was still young we always cook kambing (goat) on my birthday (kaldereta, kilawin, etc.) Say my birthday greeting to your brother.

It's a wonderful thing to celebrate birthdays coz it's another way to get bonded with your relatives and friends. As what i've always heard pancit or spaghetti is the best dish to prepare coz pampahaba raw ng buhay(long life). so thats why, pancit or spaghetti is always present to this kind of event. Extend my bithday greetings to your brother:)

reading your posts makes me crave for pansit :) i love eating pansit not only on birthdays but also on merienda. On my birthday pansit bihon is what my mom usually cook but I also request for palabok. So every year, my birthday is not complete without pansit and palabok. I know it sounds odd to some but hey i like noodles a lot :)

Yeah! That's right! Pancit is always present in some parties especially in birth day parties. I guess the reason why pancit is always present during parties is simply because it's very affordable. Beside, they adapt some traditional believe in other country that eating pasta food will make your life long.

yes, it's affordable and it is always liked by people. even there is rice and meat, you cannot resist eating pansit plus the belief that it gives you long life.

We always have Pinikpikan in the house on almost every occasion.. The broth, yumm and the chicken together with sayote or unripe papaya, and also with malunnggay leaves or sili tops. That could make everyone burp.

We are not a fan of pansit. So in our family when there's a birthday there's always spaghetti. We love spaghetti and it is enough as longs as there is one.
