What are the best places to go in New York in October?

Hello me and the man are gonna be travelling to New York in Ocober between the dates of the 7th and the 14th, what are the best things to go see and do? I am primarily aiming this question at those who have been and know thier way around New York and know any nice small hidden away places to go. Places we have on our list so far to go see: China town/Little Italy Staten Island ferry broadway show central park greenwhich village-forbidden planet and that big book store perhaps a gig or concert of the punk/rock genre a nice sushi bar and fresh food market If anybody has anything to add or comment on particular areas special nook like the best sushi restaurant they know or best places to go see in China town please let me know. I was aiming to go to Chibis sake bar but sadly its closed.
