What is the server side scripting.. ?

Hey friends as i many times listen and read that PHP is a server side scripting .. and as i think if any scripting executes on server then it is called server side scripting.. so i want to know am i right or please you may tell me more about server side scripting.. because now in these days i am going to learn PHP.. So it is very very important for me to know this.. please tell me briefly.. I am very excited to know about this programming.. thanks..

Yes there are two kind of scripting languages as server side scripting and client side scripting language.
Server side scripting languages are like php asp, jsp, etc. So you have to code in a way to execute on server and they generate the html pages as the output.
