The Vampire Diaries?

Season 1 just finished airing on the CW and I have to say, I wasn't expecting to like it, but I absolutely loved it! Ian Somerhalder is brilliant as Damon Salvatore and by far my favourite character on the show, second only to Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert and the super evil vampire Katherine. The rest of the cast is amazing as well, and even though the characters on the show bear little resemblance to the characters in the book, the show on its own seems like a definite hit. Are there any other fans out there? What are your views on the show/books/both? :)

yes,it's great!! did you read the book? that's awesome! i just watch it on TV. is Katherine the super evil? i thought maybe there is a strongest vampire behind K. oh,am a chinese girl and a crazy fan of the vampire diaries. and am waiting for season 2

I began reading the books, but the problem is that I watched the whole of Season 1 before I started, and the books seem totally different from the show. I mean Elena's blonde, and her best friend is some Meredith girl who isn't on the show! But on its own, I did really like the books. :) There's a vampire worse than Katherine? God, I hope not. I really like the show the way it is, and Katherine's character is awesome because she's so evil on her own! If someone was working behind her, it would take some of the evil away from her, I think.

ok,genarally speaking,the show is different from the original work.
i like Damon very much,especially when Stefan trapped,Damon told Elena that he could not protect her seriously,that moment,i even thought i fall in love with him.oh god an a dreamer……but at the end of season 1 Katherine was scared me. she is terrifying!!

I was watching the show too. Every Friday I woke up earl and download the brand-new episode of TVD. It always was my best forty minutes in a week and i always feel that i couldn't find out what will happen next. I mean one time Damon wanted to destroy the town and then the season finale, when he kissed Katherine, though he thought is was Elena, and tell her how much he really cares about the citizens and the people around him, especially about Elena. I was crying and shaking during the scene. That whole speech, he made and the mimic, his face, how it changed when he looked at her... i didn't really know how i am a was capable to stand up from the chair and went to school after that "miracle". So what i am trying to say is that i am a totally Damon&Elena fan and when i realized it's not her with him, that it's Katherine... I was shocked. And i can't wait to see season two. I am gonna die until then and it doesn't matter how much i am trying to figure out what's gonna happen, cause obviously they gonna surprise me and give a plot some very unusual turning.

I was completely shocked, too, when I found out that Damon kissed Katherine instead of Elena. I wanted it to be Elena so much because her & Damon are perfect for each other. I loved the season finale; there were so many cliffhangers, and I can't wait for season 2! It starts on Sept. 9. It's gonna be a longgg wait.

It's an amazing show! I can't wait till the next season. It's so intense the end of every episode always leaves you on your toes and wondering what will happen next!

I am not so sure that it is my favourite TV series among all the movies and TV series concerning vampires.But I do like it and I just finished watching the first season online.I like the end of this season.And I was thrilled when I saw that Katherine is back.I have downloaded the original books but I haven't read it yet.Maybe when I have time.:)
I like Damon more than Stefan.Damon is evil but he also has humanity.He just hides it and tries to act like he cares about nothing.But deep inside,I think he is a good man.Stefan is good,for sure.But that also makes him sometimes boring.lol!
