Why hieroglyphyics characters were seen in Swan emergency counter?

What was the relation between Dharma initiative and Egyptian culture? We saw Hieroglyphics in the swan emergency counter. How did that end up there?

Maybe because they had seen them on so many things on the island or maybe they were on something at the Swan site when they drilled near it. Probably, there was never meant to be any explanation for them being there, just another unanswered Lost mystery.
