Big, bigger and bigger portion of rice, gives me a crazy look!

I am really a rice eater, I cannot live without it every meal. Unfortunately it makes me grow big and bigger. If I eat rice 3 times a day I will gain at least 1 pound a day. There are many people said brown rice is better than the white rice. But the taste of a brown rice seems not palatable to me. I need to have soup or saucy viand so that I can enjoy. What would be the substitute for rice so that I will not grow fat everyday?

i love rice, too. i used to eat 2 cups of rice every meal. 3 cups if the viand is very tasty. i did gain weight because of that. so i started eating less rice. 1 cup per meal. i tried brown rice and red rice. they don't taste as good as white rice but they are very good to your health. the taste just takes getting used to. if you want to stick to your current diet, supplement it with exercise. 30 minutes of walking everyday would burn that rice out of your system. or you can skip eating rice at least twice every week. substitute it with something healthier. or cut your rice portion per meal. 1 cup of rice for breakfast and lunch but eat only half a cup of rice in the evening. supplement it with fruit or vegetables. happy eating!

Red rice is just like brown rice, only thing is it's red. =) it almost tastes the same too. it needs more water to cook than regular white rice. we also have violet rice. much like red rice. we also have black rice, which is usually used for rice cakes. anyway, i do share your passion for rice. nothing compares to it. =)

Red Rice? I haven't seen any red rice in our place? how does it taste and smell? I am curious about the red rice. Anyway, you are right there, we can control eating white rice as much as possible. But the truth is we cannot do it away in our diet. Even though we will skip eating every other day, but the satisfaction is different compare eating it with control.

Hahaha looks like we have the same problem. I, myself, is a rice eater too, and a meal seems not complete without rice. If i have soup, the more rice i eat. I now have a big stomach because of too much rice. But that ok with me as long as i have my rice. i tried substituting sweet potatoes for my rice but it just doesn't feel good.

I agree with you. IF rice and soup is there in the table my appetite would be very very big. hmmmm, how can we manage not to eat a lot of rice?

Actually there are numerous staple foods that you can substitute for rice. Like for example sweet potato and other crops grow by the farmer. They have the same carbohydrates produce by rice and the good thing is that they can't make you fat. You can also eat bread during breakfast or cereals and that is really good rice substitute. I am also a rice lover my meal is not complete if I can't eat three meals with rice on it. But then i have to minimize because I don't want to get fat also.

You are right with that. I tried to substitute rice to sweet potato and it is very effective. It lessen my sweet cravings. I also notice that I my body is so light especially after dinner. But sometimes I am tempted to have rice especially if there will be good viand.

I think there's no any substitute of rice which can give you as much taste as you said how much you do like rice. Although you can have spaghetti squash or the mock mashed potatoes (cauliflower). But I am sure you would stick to Rice, because it seems that you like it very much. Isn't it?
