How to get more traffic to my forum?

I have a new forum, with a few members but I need more traffic to my blog to raise it up on the google pages. Does anyone have any advise how to do it? It's a gaming forum and I have a few people reviewing games so it's not like theres no posts, just not as many as larger blogs (links in my profile).
Can i have your advise?

I have had my own forum in the past I also found it difficult to get more members and more activity. One option is to pay people for the posts they write. You could use a site like forumpositingservice.net or kickstartyourforums.com, but it depends if you are interested in paying for it and if you can afford it. Are you a member of other forums? You are often able to post a link to your own site in your profile, and if you are active on the other forums people will look at your profile and some of them will also look at your link that is my experience.
