What a great idea little Valk!

So, we receive notifications through our email if a friend of ours has made a new discussion if if there was a new reply or if there was a new message at our myLot inbox. I had this idea though: What if myLot provided us with RSS feed for interests? I could subscribe to five or six interests, and whenever a new discussion is made at these interests, I will get a RSS notification through my browser with the discussion's title and the creator of the discussion. Do you think that would be of help? Sometimes the discussion notifications really fill my mailbox

In 'discussions' there is a section 'my interests' where discussions initiated under our own interests feature. Is this not good enough?

But when you want to work on them you need to login! 'my interests' should serve the purpose imho!

that is a good idea instead of just the discussions started by friends.. it is better to be informed what other discussions were started in our favorite interests.. anyway welcome back bro... it has been a long time since you were not alive in mylot..hmmm

valkerion, Undeniably, a great idea to implement but again it is really individual as far as preferences is concern. Some members may like this feature whereby they will get to their favorite topics without having to sign in, however here's 2 valid issues. 1. Login Since you need to login to post, respond or comment, the RSS feed will not be fully useful where myLot is requiring this to be fully active in this site. 2. Supporting Friends It would be great if members here are not into support their friends' posts or whatever since these feeds will only provide your choices basing on topics rather than your good friends. Have a nice weekend.

I understand these concerns but: 1) You can log in at the beginning of your day and not have the myLot site open. For instance, when I log through college I am not able to have myLot open all the time. 2) I know what you mean. I am not saying though to not send any notifications through mail about discussions that your friends started!

Good idea my friend! I hope MyLot will think about this. It will reduce the amount of messages clogging our email's inbox. Although we like them because they are all about our friends, but the strain of checking them one by one and deleting them one by one, is keeping its toll on us. Nice idea my friend. My two thumbs up for you!

Hey magtibaygom! Long time no see! I am glad you liked my idea! I have subscribed to RSS to every single site I like, and I really enjoy it. That's why I came up with this idea. And yes, reading and then deleting the messages is a pain in the a$$

The RSS feeds are working with a keyword, or for the discussions started by a member. It is not exactly a RSS by interest. I tried to use them, and was quite satisfied : http://www.mylot.com/o/rss.aspx

Yes I know there is a myLot RSS. I just thought RSS with Interest would be more neat for some people :)

It would be interesting. I am asking myself why it is not implemented ? I don't understand how the articles are chosen in the RSS feeder when you ask for a specific user. I replied at 12 discussions today, and four only are showed...

Can you tell me how to make the notifications come through my mylot inbox instead of my email? I'm kinda getting spammed by these guys atm _

Oh! When I said inbox, I meant my email's inbox.

Hi valkerion: I'm not sure about how good this idea could because I think you'd receive even more discussions on each of your interests so it would be harder to decide what of these discussion you want to respond. I know that Mylot notifications can fill your email but I delete the notifications that are about a subject started by one of my friends that I don't feel interested at all to respond. Thanks for sharing with ideas Little Valk. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

RSS feed with the Firefox addon, RSS Ticker, is the easiest notification system in my opinion. There is a special bar underneath the toolbar of your Firefox browser, in which RSS feeds slide through

You know? I never liked RSS feeds and have actually never used them.

Yes I also agree, that would be nice and simplified. However, I would suppose it would be so overloaded as well. Especially for new myLotters who are not quite use to the flow of things. I imagine, as I am guilty of it myself that when you are new to myLot there we tend to accept almost everything as an interest. So imagine the hundreds of fees every half a second. Although the idea is a thought and perhaps if the feed would be an option to select which of the feeds it should feed to us as oppose to just interests.

A combination of interests and keywords (tags) would be the most appropriate thing to do in order to avoid getting spammed!
