Would you take home a merlion?

I could have posted this in gifts and souvenir but decided here instead because it would emphasize the travel aspect quite apart from gifts for other occasions. A friend has just returned from China with a surprise gift for me. Oh what a beauty! You would probably have guessed right as I've had. It was a miniature section of the Great Wall. What would be a perfect gift or a souvenir from your country that is uniquely yours!

That's wonderful. That's a surprise gift in truth and in fact. For me a tangible gift would be either a miniature sample of a ' bamboo flute' or a miniature bottle of the famous Jamaican overproof White Rum. These are stunning historical traits of the island - just like the China's Great Wall.

Hi Opal! Yes it's always nice if someone remembers us. The element of surprise makes it nicer. It's in the glass cabinet in the living room where we it can be easily seen. And it's next to other gifts with sentimental values. Thanks for sharing Opal! Take care my friend!

When I visited Singapore I saw the majestic looking merlion by the waterfront. I took home a costume doll for my collection, a T Shirt for my mom and a fridge magnet for my sister. If I gave a friend overseas a gift from my home country it would be a model of a London bus. When a friend gives me a present from overseas I like to have a costume doll.

I took home the Union Jack, the London Bridge, the London bus, the queen's guards in fridge magnets, some tshirts and lots of beautiful memories from two trips to London. I read somewhere in the discussion here in myLot that you have visited 50 countries. I salute you maximax. That's really amazing. I've just learned that you collect costume dolls. Great hobby too! Do you manage to get one from every country you visited? Which costume doll from Singapore did you bring home? Thank you so much for sharing!

They are very iconic to Australia as much as the merlion is to Singapore. The kangaroos and the koalas certainly make great gifts from Australia.
