So, I have a job tomorrow cooking for the owner of the boat and his guests. The boss tells me that the only thing is guest's wife eats is chicken and to please try to make something nice with that. I decide on making an arugula pesto stuffed chicken, eggplant roulades and individual AuGratin potatoes with Baby Swiss and cream. Pretty easy menu actually, except for the desert..that was a little more complicated beause its creme brulee and the oven on the boat does not dispense even heat so getting the custard to cook in a water bath takes forever. Anyway, a new farmers market opened in my area so I decide to go there early this morning to buy my vegetables. They had the most beautiful stuff. All the herbs are sold in bulk and the basil looked so lovely i decided to buy 2 big shopping bags full and change my pesto plan to half basil half arugula. I get to the boat to drop off the groceries for tomorrow and to prep what I cculd today. I am greeted when I get there by the Captain and his beautiful dalmation who is always on the boat when there are no guests. Ozzie (the dog) loves to watch me cook (the fact that I give him treats the whole time has nothing to do with it I'm sure lol) and takes his usual place by me feet in the galley. I roast off the eggplant and get them stuffed and rolled and my plan was to also make the pesto today. It always taste better the next day. I go up to the main salon to get something and as I am coming back down the stairs, here is Ozzie, leg lifted into position, peeing on my bag of basil..and a big pee it was!!! I laughed so hard I almost fell over the side and when I screamed his name he looked at me like I was crazy, thought i wanted to play and proceeded to charge from room to room knocking stuff over and having a grand time..Well, needless to say, its back to arugula stuffed chicken and a valuable lesson learned. Don't leave grocery bags on the floor when Ozzie is aboard!! Ya gotta love dogs!!!

HiSul, Ya got to ADORE dogs!!! I love my Lola (a naughty German Sheppheard) Bu she would not get a laugh from mommy had she done that to my groceries. Your menu sounded wonderful (before Ozzie´s peeing). I have cooked in a boat (was part of a sailboat´s crew last year) and it´s not easy. You must be a great cook!!!

Hi Marg..Yeah..I can hold my own in the kitchen..I graduated last year from the art institute of Ft Lauderdale as chef. It is how I got the job on the boat through their referral. I love cooking but never thought it would become my life..I also would like to write a cookbook one day. I've been writing it for years but i doubt it will ever get published. Now that I've graduated I really have little time to work on it anymore..Maybe someday!! I love German Shepherds. They are such beautiful dogs..Is that her in your Avatar?

Yep, gotta love dogs, but never trust them... My neighbors dog, though he didn't pee on any food, had taken soma food from my husband. He has a sandwich in the car and left the door opened..He comes out of the house and there goes Smokey, taking off dragging a paper towel behind him..

Hi Carm..I love it!! Dogs are champions at stealing food. Once a long time ago a dog my family had came home with an entire turkey that someone was bar-b-que ing for 4th of July..We never found out where it came from, just as well, and we hid the dog out for weeks!!!

Lol well I have to be honest that is the sort of thing that my Gissi would do lol I know he had lifted his Leg on a Box that my Daughter was using for packing when she was moving lol as you can imagine my Daughter was not happy, but Gissi just wagged his Tail and barked at her while she was trying to tell him of, she gave up in the end lol

I am not so sure I would have laughed. I have cats who get pretty involved about plastic grocery bags. For some reason they are so much better than litter. Right?

LOL H..I didn't know that..I guess anything new with new smells is good for litter. Cats are so funny..I so miss having one..Lots of strays in my neighborhood, but beause of the dogs I just can't have one. They would think it was their own personal chew toy and it would never work out!

lol... thats so funny, and yeah probably not a good idea to leave grocery bags around when Ozzie is around. I have a cat thats a bit nosy with the shopping bags, luckily though she has never managed to steal any of it, and definitely not peed on it!

Hi Rosie..Its funny,,I used to have a cat that loved when I came home with the groceries..not because she was interested to see what was in them but she would wait for you to empty them so she could climb in. Once she was in she would scrunch down and that was my que to pick her up in the bag and swing it back and forth like a swing but higher..She loved it and would stay until the bottom of the bag would finally break and she'd fall out!! We played "the shopping bag game" for years..I still miss that cat to this day..She was a real sweatheart..Believe it or not, someone stole her from me..yup thats right..took her like she was a piece of jewelry or something. I know who did it but he moved right after that and when I took the police to his house, he was gone..never saw him or her again..It broke my heart to say the least.
