I am looking for a site provider where I can design and upload my own web site. I just think it is more fun and scratches my creativity bug a little to be able to design my own site. That is really what I prefer. however, I have had trouble when I am trying out providers. They all want you to use their templates, which are nice but rarely fit my need like I want them to. Do you know of a rather inexpensive host that will allow me to upload my own design?

In my understanding, if you use free website providers, you have no options but to use the templates they provide. But if you go to paid ones, like Hostgator, GoDaddy, VeryVIP, and Network Solutions, you will be free to use your own.

No. that's where you are wrong. I guess, there might be some hosters which promote their stuff. From my personal experience I might say, that using the stuff provided by free hoster is absolutely optional. You might switch to your own templates and designs.

I do like to use my own design. Actually should get my program in the mail today or tomorrow. I am looking forward to getting back to work on it. the trouble with the free servers is that I want to set up a store on the site and most do not support that!

Well, actually that is part of my problem. I have no idea! i create my site in Serif WebPlus and then I can upload it. I have done it before but I'm lost as a goose as far as most of the programing.

Wait a minute: each and any hosting service allow to upload your own stuff and some have some pre-made templates - editable - to use ONLY IF you want. So, using a web-programming language you can build our own site as you want and upload through FTP on hosting server. I use a hosting for ~ 8.50 $/month but I have huge space and bandwidth; else small hosting you can easyly find for 3-4 $ a month. Even more: FREE HOSTING sites are outthere and I bet NONE will not force you to use their templates ...

Serif WebPlus is web designing tool so you know need to bother about technology like asp.net , php etc. it's just a html page . So you just think about space available for you for a little bit of amount. i think godaddy is expensive . If you use asp.net, php scripting on your website go for godaddy.
