Are we selfish?

Selfish means... "about self". Are we self-centred? Think about this: when we have a group photo on hand, what do we look at first? OURSELVES! We may try to be altruistic but ultimately we care about ourselves more than anything else. Is this true? Or are there many Mother Theresas out there?

Caring about self? i think it is a pre-requisite before we care to others. Just read between my lines and you'll get what i am trying to say. :)

I think I understand what you mean. If I am healthy in mind and body and are not much worried, I'll probably find it easier to care for others.

There is a saying:"The person not for himself, the god will destroy him."The meaing of this is self-centred,it means selfish. The ancient said, the person is born evil,if you want to become not evil, you should accept education.

I think the vast majority of us are selfish, and unfortunatley I think it is a pretty new phenomeono thta looks set to get worse and worse. There are a few people out there who do good because they want to make a difference and bettter the lives of other people, but I do think some are so self centered that they never even think about the bigger picture.
