adding friends to mylot

I am not really looking at the benefits when I add a member to my friends list or when someone requested a friendship. When I see a member with the same interest as me or someone I think I could have fun with, I request a friendship. And when someone send a request to me, I accept them after looking at their profile. Well, looking at their profile is just a formality that I automatically do; I accept the friendship anyway.
The benefit that I can see is that when you post a discussion, your friends will be sent a notification. And even if your friend turned the notification off for you, they can still find your post easily by going to Discussion friends started. So, there's more chance that more people will see your posts and more chance to get a response.

May I add that when we are friends on each others list, we can then send private messages (PM) which we cannot do if we are not friends.
That comes in handy when there is something which we want to share privately as personal details should not be placed in discussions.

@Diana: I agree. I like being able to send private messages. They're such a benefit, especially when sending referral links, which you can't do in discussions.
@zralte: I don't really add a friend for the benefits either. I'm not to into answering all of my friend's discussions. Not that I don't want to, I just have over 200 friends and if they create one discussion each, that's 200 discussions. It's crazy! There's no way I could answer all of those in one day!
I accept all friendship requests too. I love making friends on here. Everyone is so friendly.
