Webcam or Face-to-Face Interview?

Philippines

I am currently widening my option of getting a formal job locally or abroad. So, I submitted my resume to different employment agencies all over the internet. But this morning I got a phone call from an agency and informed me that I'm scheduled for a webcam interview in the afternoon. So I went there and get it done. The interview went well but what I'm worried about is that, I always prefer a face-to-face interview because I can express myself better that way and I can read the facial expression of the interviewer which will give me a hint whether I made the cut or no. So how about you, which one do you prefer?

i always wanted face to face interview cause as you have said you can always see the facial expressions and gestures of the one you are talking to. it is more formal to have interview especially when it is for job. but i guess when you are applying for overseas and you really have to talk to them in webcam, that would also be a formal way,but nothing beats the face to face interview.

yes you are right..it is more formal to conduct an interview face-to-face..but i think those employers who doesn't have an extra budget to visit another country settles for a webcam interview instead..

A face to face interview usually turns out for the best. Webcams don't quite have that professional touch you need for interview purposes. Good luck in your endeavors!

I can be interviewed in any way. I can even go for a panel interview. You should not worry about being interviewed online. Always do your best and you will surely get that job. Good luck.

Well i'm just a teenager so i don't know much about it.But as far as i can think,i guess webcam interview is slightly on a better side beacuse there is no mental pressure on you.In webcam interview one can avoid atmosphere that generally surrounds us in an interview room.Moreover.most people are generally used to webcam.

now a days abroad interviews are done by using webcams and phonecalls.. i think webcam interview is better because going for abroad to attend an interview will cost too much and time taking.. and coming to facial expressions, if we are confident then no matter of expressions from the interviewer.. so i wish u all the best

Webcam interview its quite interesting ya.I know telephonic interviews are quite common nowadays but had no idea about this. But as you said i agree with u i also prefer face to face interview coz seeing the gestures of the interviewers you can somewhat assume your chances of geting the job.All the best anyways i m sure something good is there in store for u.

I think I will take a face-to-face interview whenever possible. The webcam chat will probably lower the pressure on me compared to face-to-face. A certain level of pressure is required for me to work with cautious and don't go over the line easily. On the other hand, I would wonder if the interviewer really like the idea of using webcam to interview candidates. If I were the interviewer, I would definitely prefer seeing the candidates face to face.

Wow that is a new method of interviewing. It is really convenient but i agree with you. If you are in an interview, we need to read their expression to see what is the right thing to say. A simple smile from them really gives a little boost of confidence :D

i think and also prefer for face to face interview because then only we can express with out any problems.if we are webcam interview suddenly power off near us then what happens to our job.like this so many problems are there. so face to face interview is the best for an perfect interview.

yeah we can't avoid technical difficulties..actually during my webcam interview, the connection is quite choppy so i can't hear the interviewer sometimes..and even if it's not my fault..it will affect my application somehow compared to those who has a clear connection..

I've already been to a lot of online interviews and I actually like it better than the face to face interview. I am scared of facing people especially if they are the boss of some company and all that because they make me feel nervous. I dont feel nervous if the interview is online so I prefer that.

Pretty nervous at Interview If I were you. It doesn't matter whether it is webcam or face to face interview. For me, I would rather go for face to face interview. Like what you said, you can at least get some hint from the facial expression whether you would get it or not. Webcam, it might even make me more nervous.

I want my interview done face to face. It's much easier for me to answer everything they ask. Like what you've said, you can express yourself better when on a face to face interview. I even feel more confident having a face to face interview than having it via a web cam or voice chat. Don't know why but maybe it's just what I'm used to. So since we're in the techie age, better get comfy with online interviews soon :( By the way congrats and good luck!

Well, its different for me on different circumstances. Say that I have this BIG interview, which is basically my future, and I am really, really nervous, I'll prefer web cam chat. Besides, you can write all you can say on notepad, and you can read it from there. And you won't face that discomfort. Other than that, it's face to face for me.

i think that's the upside in webcam interviews..the interviewer will not see what's on your desktop..nice one!
