I have heard many people say that "real" coffee drinkers do not use soap to wash their coffee pots and some even their cups! I wash mine almost every morning! Do you use soap with yours or do you just rinse it out with warm water?

I wash my cup in soap and water, but i clean my pot with white vinegar and then rinse, run water through it twice before making a pot of coffee. My water is hard, even if i filter it my pot gets white scale easily.

Hard water can clog up a coffee maker real fast, I have found that out the hard way! I probably need to clean my coffee maker with some vinegar just haven't done that. I figure it's pretty clean back there in the pipes. It's the pot I was every day though!

I have never really heard this before. I guess maybe its because I'm a tea drinker. My daughter and her husband are the coffee drinker in my house. We always use soap to clean the pot out. I guess hard core coffee drinkers like the pot to keep the smell of the coffee inbedded in the pot.LOL I can't imagine not cleaning it with soap and hot water. If you just rinse it the glass will become pot become the color of coffee, right?

If you don't clean it with soap and water it gets all stained up. It's really the same thing with teas! I always use soap and water and then I make sure it is rinsed real good and air dried!

I don't because I'm afraid I might not get all the soap out. But every 2 or three months, I put this solution tht cleans the whole coffeemaker, including the pot.

HI Macdingolinger!. I am not a coffee drinker because I feel dizzy every time I drink it. I am a tea girl to be a specific a green tea lover. My dad and mom who love coffee at our home and they always wash their cups with sop, we always wash cup and glasses after used it because we feel it more clean. Do you know what the reason this real coffee drinker don;t wash their cups with soap.

Do they have a reason why they (the "real" coffee drinkers) do not use soap to wash their coffee pots or mugs? I am wondering why... I cannot afford to don't wash my coffee mug or pot with soap. The brown color of the residue will leave stain that are very hard to remove, they are almost permanent if you leave them unwashed with soap!
