At work, a female co - worker was about getting married on July, after the Independent Day. We all congratulate her in advance. There is a male employee in our department also congratulate her, and on the next day, he bought her a gift. We thought how nice of him. But right after that, he started to talk bad behind her back. Saying how bad her performance at work, and her work reflect her personality or something something like that. He also saying hard to imagine someone will marry a girl like her. I thought to myself, did you just cheerfully gave her a gift, and now you talk bad behind her back like this? What a hypocrite. I should get away from this person.

I don't know about that whether he has crush on her. I never heard he said a good word about her.

I'm not sure hypocrite is the right word for that situation. But I do agree with you that he's not a very nice person. Is he even this woman's boss? He has no business talking about her job performance if he isn't.

I agree with you. I don't understand why some people feel the need to build up their ego by making someone else look bad. It sounds like he's not really a very nice person and would not be one I would be friends with. :-
