What are your thoughts on last nights England game (world cup)?

Well I am not a huge football fan, but I do like to watch my country play, and support my country, so last night once my little one went to bed, I got myself comfortable on the sofa, with some snacks and a little wine, and turned on the TV to watch the game. Well once again I wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this game, I was so disappointed with our team. I really believed that we would have won against Algeria, but we just seemed to play so bad last night. I do not know the reason as to why we played so terribly, but the first half just seemed a joke. I know that football is a hard game, and Algeria did actually do pretty good to me... but I can't help saying this, it just seemed that England kept giving the ball away, and had lost all concentration of the game. Maybe it was to do with the last game that we played last Saturday against the USA, when our goal keeper let the ball go in the net after letting it slip out of his hands, perhaps that incident has caused England to feel like they have lost motivation or something, I really don't know. All I know is that after last Saturday's game... I really believed that England would be playing harder, and making up for the shambles against the USA. Perhaps I am being to hard on them, after the disappointment of last nights game... perhaps I just expected too much from them. I am now left wondering whether I should watch the next game, or whether again we will allow yet another team to wipe the floor with us. What are your thoughts... do you think I am wrong or is there anything that you can add?

I am not much of a football fan either, but for the sake of my husbadn I thought that I should just sit and watch. I have never seen such a terrible game, it was boring and the team just looked so down in the mouth that I could not believe it. They owe it to the team, their country, the fans and themselves to put in a good amount of effort. They were just making too many school boy errors and I actually think a school boy team could have done better last night!

Yep I totally agree with you. It was boring, and they could have done so much better. After all the hype, and all the support from all of us here in England.... we have our car flags, magnets, air freshners, T-shirts, flags flying on our homes and football music playing in the car, well we expect so much more!!! All I can say is "COME ON ENGLAND - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!"

I am quite unsatisfied with the performance of England, I really don't understand why England couldn't beat such a weak team. If England continues this kind of performance, it can't pass the first group. So how shameful if this happens.

it's as if they've always had some sort of stage fright when they get to the world cup. it has been like eons already since they put on a good show in that tournament. they are all good players when they're in their respective clubs. but when they get together...

Yes that does seem the case... especially after watching Rooney's performance last night. Very disappointed in him. Perhaps we have the wrong team altogether.

I didn't get to see last nights game because i was working but i hear it was pretty rubbish and that none of them put any effort in. These players earn hundreds of thousands of pounds every week to kick a ball around and they play like that. What is going on? And if they were playing for their country before last night i don't think they will be next game after being booed off. I imagine they will all be just so frustrated. But anywhos, there is still hope :)

yeah I think the whole of England is still trying to believe that there is still hope, it was just so disappointing to watch after the mistakes they made on their opening game. We will see this wednesday what happens, but I can't help feeling that they have given up. We need to score some goals and win this game to stay in and boost the moral of the team.

I guess we both posted these discussions at the same time!! Here is the discussion I have just posted - these are my thoughts on the pile of ****!!! The English Football Team ( I use the term VERY loosely!!) Once again they played like they didn't care a hoot, they were a load of sh!te!! I get so annoyed as the country is 110% behind them, everyone has gone to so much trouble to decorate, shops, houses, streets etc, we're spending a fortune on English merchandise - and how do these over paid idiots respond - by playing like the local blind school - that's how!!!!!! They are all there with their mansions of houses, jewellery dripping botoxed WAGS, a fleet of expensive cars AND THEY'RE NOT DOING THEIR JOBS!!! If I wanted my house painted and employed the highest paid professional in the country I'd expect a good job, same with our National football team - start deducting some money, and in a big way, from their inflated wages and perhaps they will start to look like they want to win! Oh and get an ENGLISH manager - I'm going to start a campaign to make Beck's our next manager, at least he's patriotic and looks like he cares!!

England played extremely weak, they were scattered all over the field and the Algerians were able to cover them completely.the midfielders weren't able to work with themselves even though the players were of a high class. Runi was covered extremely well and he couldn't show his potential The only good thing about them was the defense and the goalkeeper. If it wasn't for them england wouldn't have made this score . If they continue to play like this, there's nothing good coming for england
