Do you sometimes feel that the housework you do is almost useless?

What i mean is that once you finish cleaning you look at a cupboard and say this has already filled up with dust, or else you touch the curtains and see that they need washing... there are so many chores to do that you sort of finish one set of chores and have a whole lot waiting for you. In these terms the house can practically never be totally clean. What do you think?

There are chores that are done twice a week then there are chores that are done twice or three times a month. The drapes don't get cleaned except every spring or about that time... dusting gets done in areas every other day... the bathroom is done twice a week as well as the kitchen. Dishes are an everyday thing. I can only say that dusting seems to be a waste of time. The toilet you know will be dirty and needed cleaned again within a few days, but dusting it seems collects and collects no matter how much you dust.

You are absolutely right! I find that I am losing myself because all I do is housework. I don't dress the way I used to. I don't do things I used to. I am working on this, though.

Even not housewrok only, almost everything we do in daily life just like endless copies and circles. For example: right now you are full, maybe next second you will feel hungry and search something to eat.Maybe another assignment needs to be done as soon as you just finish one during your work.If we think in your logic, are all what we do is invalid at all? I don't think so in my opinion. At least we have enjoyed the precious time after finishing some tasks regardless of its next turn already begins probably. When you finish your housework, you can still enjoy tidy and clean for a period of time although it maybe messed up immediately.

Yes i do find that no matter how much you try to keep up with all the housework there are always things that need to be done.It do seem useless trying to keep up with the dust aswell as all the dirt on the floors that seems to be back as soon as they are washed.

I lived around the road, every day many of cars passed in front of my house, it exsits so much dust. Though I washed, cleaned, mopped, the whole of house seemed not completely clean. I felt it's useless because of the dust. I have to clean up my house every day even every night, though I knew it's not helpful, but I felt it will look clean than before.

Doing household chores all the time overboard me because I want to do something else than cleaning the house. I like the my house clean, but I have to kids and my husband seems to clutter so much, it is really hard on my part to keep a clean house.

You are so right. I will spend a couple of hours cleaning the entire house and before you realize it you will find something else you missed. There is always something. The one thing I hate cleaning are the floors because once mopped within a few hours they will be messed up again. There are many times while cleaning I will say to myself, "why am I killing myself its just all going to get dirty again." However, since I'm OCD when it comes to keeping my home clean I can't change my routine of cleaning.

I don't consider housework "useless" per say, but I do find it very time consuming to keep up with. I love the way my house looks when it is clean, although you are right in the fact that it never really is clean as there is always dust gathering on things no matter how much you do. BUT as long as my house "LOOKS" clean I am happy. You know, the dishes done and put away, the floors washed and vacuumed and things picked up and put away, as well as the tables dusted and shined. I don't worry much about the bedrooms because we're the only ones who use those. I do keep the bathrooms up also. No one likes a dirty bathroom!

Definitely it's not useless. It feels so light to live in a house that's clean. Yes it maybe tiring and time consuming, but it's all worth it. I think that's the big responsibility of a girl to maintain her place as clean and organized as possible. That will just be part of our daily routine like brushing our teeth and takin a bath everyday, it's like part of our body system already that's hard to remove already in our routine. Because it is very uncomfortable and inconvenient if our house is dirty and cluttered. Even if we clean our house, spray disinfectant, we can never say that it is totally germ free, but at least when we look at our house after the tiring work, we can see that it is clean and good to look at.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean! I try to clean something at home almost every day, and it just feels like the chores never end! And that makes it so hard to motivate yourself to clean something or do something at home every day, you know there will always be more stuff to do afterwards anyway. And I do not even live in a very big house! I cannot imagine how much work people with big houses or families have at home!

Hey you are right about the reality of a house being clean due to dust particles something is always getting dirty. The naked eye can not see these particles until they have accumulated in excess. Technically house is never clean but for purposes of how we see the work we have done house work is worth is and not useless. Think about it we would all be sick if we didn't clean up at all. Dirty would be the last thing we would be concerned about in a household. Housework is not useless just time consuming and redundant.
