Hello Dear Lotters Happy Father's Day! A few years ago I read a story about a man, a father who changed the world, the law and himself only for one reason. To be a great dad for his kids. The story is simple and real. Desmond Doyle was an Irish decorator whose children were taken into the a custody of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to the Children when his wife left him on Saint Stephen's Day in 1953. Doyle petitioned for the return of his children.Nevertheless the goverment denied his request, citing, the best interests of the children. He constantly fought a legal battle to regain custody of them which required overturning the provisions of the Irish Children's Act. This prevented a father from caring for his own kids in the absence of their mother unless she was living and gave written permission for him to do so.Doyle became involved in a case presented before the Irish Supreme Court in which it was claimed the Children's Act contravened several sections of the Irish Constitution. In December 1955 the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Desmond Doyle and ordered that the children be returned to him and that his court costs were to be reimbursed by the goverment. The events leading up to the Supreme Court's decision were recounted in the book Evelyn: A True Story by eldest daughter Evelyn Doyle. Also don't miss the movie Evelyn with Pierce Brosnan in the role of Desmond Doyle. A great choice for today!

I think it will be an excellent movie to watch.Pity is i'm from India so i have to be on the lookout for cable channels to find out when they'll air this movie.I can visualise a father's love for his children in the absence of his wife.I eagerly look forward to this movie and will make a note of it.
