is music haram or halal in islam?

assalamu alaikum friends
i have heard a lot of articles that says music is halal and some that says that music is haram.this has just caused a lot of confusion to em .which one is right? daff is halal that i know . but what is the state of other musical instruments i hear a lot of songs including music i am afraid that was i doing a haram thing ?
i need to know the reality of this please provide me more information on this topic

Music is haram in Islam..
if you want to learn music.
learn Kirrat of Quran(Recitation)
if you want to sing, why not recite Holly Quran verses??
or any Naat??
only Dafli can be beaten for Naat. other than that its Haram
