Do you even need cell phone when you have internet? Seriously, although i know nowadays you can use your cellphone to go online, but when you have internet, you can talk to people you know doesn't matter how far the distance and it's cheaper when you contact your friend from outside the country. With messenger service like Yahoo Messenger, you can even have video conference.

i guess we still need a mobile phone from time to time..not everyone of our acquaintances near or far has the luxury of having an internet at home..so we might be needing the mobile phone to contact them sooner or later..also some countries are not allowing messenger's services in their country so we still end up using the mobile phone..

I think the cell phone is a must. you can't bring a computer under your belt. but cell phone is so small that we can put it into the pocket.

Well, you can bring your laptop WITH internet connection almost anywhere. The cell phone is small, and yet have small screen, and less color compared to laptop.

one problem is you can't keep your yahoo messager or skype or msn ...online all the time. how long can you laptop running with the battery? I know a laptop have all function that a mobile phone have, but my opinion is the mobile phone is more convenience.

But you don't need to keep it on all the time, just check it once in a while would be just fine don't you think?

It all depends on your computer.m I do not have a lap top and if i told you I was looking into one, I bet you would tell me go Windows. Right? And I do not like people telling me I do not need something whatever it is. I have a cell phone for emergencies and it also takes good pictures, substitutes as a music player and e reader. I cannot see carrying four or more things in my purse. Sometimes one cannot get to a payphone and sometimes one is not in a house where one can use the home phone. I also do not like messenger services because you may even get scammed. Outside your country, it is usually best to use the local phone service or take out the sim card from your cellphone and buy one in the country you are in or use a throwaway phone. And if you are smart you can go Wi Fi. and your calls are free.

It all depends on what your needs are. I don't always need to talk to people from other country so that's not really an issue for me. I understand I can talk to people online but I can't really carry my laptop with me all the time. I travel a lot for my work & at times, it's easier & more affective to use a cell phone rather than having to use laptop. I don't need to be online all the time but I do need to use my cell phone a lot. I rarely use my cell phone to go online that much so it wouldn't be worth it for me to carry my laptop to talk to people.

i firmly believe that i still need cellphones even if i have laptop already. my reason is that cellphones are lighter to carry. i don't also connect with my friends outside the country all the time that is why i still bring phones and not laptops.

Lighter to carry but easily to be slipped somewhere, don't you think?
