OK, this pertains to my sweeper. Well I have 2 sweepers but both of their belts broke. Which is no big deal because I can just use the broom on the carpets. I know that it is a pain in the @@s, but I have no choice right now. Lats night though my boys and I went swimming and when we got back there pull-up and diaper started ripping apart before I could get them both changed. So I decided to just give my one sweeper a try. Well to my surprise it allowed me to sweep up the floor without a problem. I have always been told that a sweeper can not suck up or sweep without a belt. So would it ruin my sweeper if I used it without the belt? My sister said it is possible to use it but said that I don't want to use to much because it could burn out the motor in it without the belt. Any suggestions would be great, because if it is possible to sweep the floor real quick with a belt in it, that would be great. Happy Mylotting

the belt is there to turn the brushes on the bottom front underneath of the sweeper, thats all it does. i personally like the brooms without the sweeper brushes because all they do it throw the dirt around on a hard surface. as long as you dont get anything clogged you'll be safe, of course a carpet wont get as clean without the brushes turning.

could be you have 2 belts, 1 on each side to turn the brushes and only 1 is broken, either way if you think its over heating just shut it off awhile some turn a small fan to keep the motor cool. with the price of sweepers and vaccumns today id use it until it fell apart totally hanging by a thread, i saw one at wal-mart for 600 bucks, are they crazy ?

Hello, never thought about the 2 belt thing. I think that is what I am going to do, then throw it away when it is fully breaking apart. Yeah they are crazy... I would never spend 600.00 for a sweeper. What do they think we are dumb? Because we are much smarter then that. I appreciate all the suggestions and advice you have gave me. It was very helpful. Hello the sweeper will run without a belt, but it is not advisable, the brush might be damaged, may be it run faster though.. Thank you so much for sharing your problem. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. . God bless you. Welcome always.

Well, I have tried using it for awhile without the belt, but it didnt work so well. It kept spitting out the dirt and it was cause allergy problems for my family. So I went and bought a new sweeper because not to long after that the motor went on both of them because of having no belts.
