Showtime has ordered another season of Weeds. Production will begin in the spring on 15 new episodes for season three, to air in the summer. Weeds tells the story of a suburban woman (Emmy winner Mary Louise Parker) who must begin selling pot in order to make ends meet after her husband dies. The series has been met with critical acclaim and high ratings for the cable network--the second-season finale drew 2 million viewers. "Weeds is quintessential Showtime: bold, provocative, premium television with production values at the top of the food chain," said Showtime president Robert Greenblatt. "This acclaimed show will be the centerpiece of our comedy strategy for several years to come, though labeling it just a comedy doesn't do it justice. It combines comedy and pathos in a way that seems to represent real life better than almost any show out there."
