How wonderful are your parents?

My parents got married in 1959 and they stayed together until death. My mother died in 1999 and my father in 2001. Their relationship as husband and wife was not without faults but they were always there for each other. Despite the fact that theirs was not a perfect marriage, they loved one another and remained faithful to each other through all the years. Both of them were bedridden for years before they died, my father for almost 9 years because of half body paralysis, and my mother for 5 years although she could sit on her own, she couldn't walk because of a fracture to one of her leg bones. But even when they were like that, my mother never faltered in serving her husband to the very end. My sister who works, readied their full day meals everyday and leave the food every morning between their beds. Mommy was actually fixing the food of my father before the last stroke happened that led to her demise. I was the one who rushed her to the hospital. I remebered vividly, while we were waiting for her to be transferred to the ICU, the last words that she uttered in a very soft voice and broken speech was, "I still need to give your father his breakfast, he hasn't eaten yet, can you take care of that because I may not be able to do it anymore," after that she went into coma and died 2 days later. I know I can never match her dedication as a wife and I really miss her so much. She was a very extraordinary woman. Sometimes I get to thinking how life would have been if our mom hadn't given us this much devotion as wife and mother. I also miss my daddy who had been a very good and loving father, a strict disciplinarian but still a good provider who always had our interest first in mind before thinking of others. Both of them had been our source of strenght and inspiration. Can you share your thoughts about how wonderful your parents are?

Hi Bluebelleangel, It certainly sounds like you had wonderful parents devoted to their children and too you and I am sorry to hear that both are no longerwith you, but you have your happy memories which is wonderful. I would ratherno comment about my own parents but love my mother dearly. My nana was the one that I loved and adored God bless her. huggles. Ellie :D
