What do you consider when you're buying a cell phone?

There are many reasons to purchase a mobile phone - beyond cost and the price plan that goes along with cell phones, what features do you consider important in your mobile phone purchase, like warranty, applications, compatibility, etc? I'm looking for specifics.

While all of those things listed above are important when it comes to cell phones, I focous on what do I NEEd the phone to do vs what I want the phone to do. If the phone doesn't meet my basic needs, then I simply don't buy it. While price is important to consider, its not the only thing. If you go cheep, then cheep is what you're going to get. think first what apps, games, features and fuctions you need from the phone. The more demanding you are the higher the price and the less the battery life. The smarter the phone the more power it will take to run it. I have a samsung highlight. I needed a touch screen phone that was able to do the basic fuctions, talk and text. There are some things I don't like, but I can't do that much about it. It covers the basics without costing me an arm and a leg every month.
