How do you measure success?

Do you measure it with all your accomplishments? The certificates hanging on your wall? Your display of trophies and medals? The money you have earned? I often wonder... For me I measure my success with the feeling of fulfillment. Knowing all the hard work and the sacrifices I made and then achieving what I have aimed for is just the best feeling. If you are happy with what you have achieved, I think that is the best measure of success. :)

happiness is the ultimate measurement of success, since happiness is subjective we will vary from measuring each of our own success.

you are right grayxenon. it is a personal one. your own definition of success and happiness might differ from mine and that's based on our own personal experiences. whatever it is...the bottomline is---HAPPINESS!

This is a gr8 ? When I was coaching, I had many quotes on a clipboard and one was: "success comes from self-acceptance" Perhaps when we learn to appreciate the acknowledgements of others, we can value our small successes more readily ;) I think a measure of success is never settling for thinking that you are successful. By how balanced your life is. If you can pay all your bills, tithe, and still save spend more time with your family then you do working, and always have a smile on your face, that is success. I can do all but pay all my bills...

For me success is I can support myself and my family(If exist) a happy life, and aim several goals I dreamed which may be a little luxury. For money, sufficiency is enough, for medals or certificates, owning them is of course happy, but they are not my goals.

I honestly think success means different things for different people, so the best way to become successful is to figure out what you think success means, instead of trying to do what other people label as being successful. For me, it would be to have enough time for my hobbies and other stuff I want to do, while still being able to pay my bills and live a comfortable life. But for other people, it might be something completely different!

Hi! I think It's us who can truly say how successful we are and not by other people. Living a comfortable life in indeed a success! Thank you.

santosmarichris, For me, I will always hold dear to the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson where he once said: "Success is to laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!" He just summed up all for me as my measure of success.

For me success can be measured by the amount of home made Greeting Cards you get from your children. Success is being able to hear your child sing to you the ABC whie jumping around.Success is seeing your child surprise you with a slice of cake with a candle stick on it while singing to you a Happy Birthday. Success for me is measured when your days of success seems to come to an end. Being able to bring wonderful children who are lovable and God-fearing is the ultimate success I could ever get.

For me, achieving my success is when other people gets positive value with what I an doing and appreciate me with gving positive feedback. It is also succesful if the person feel there is some positive change that revolves in him/her which was a result of what I am doing. I always think a success can only be measured by other people and how they perceive my job instead of ourselves appraising our performance.

As far as I am concerned, I think success to me is that I must have a lot of money first ,which I think is the most necessary one in the world. Then I think I must have a wonderful family on earth. As we all know that if we want to be so successful in business or government, you must have a good family behind you! That is my definetion of success!

For me definition of success is a bit different. Its not about the certificates on wall, medals on my chest, trophies on my desk or feathers in my cap. For me success is winning the hearts of people, giving happiness to others , making someone feel better, helping a depressed man and making someone smile. I dream to make someones day. because I believe a lot in karma. I know i may sound silly but that is how I measure success for me. Else what are the certificates, medals , trophies and prizes good for if you cant give happiness to anyone. So winning the hearts of the people aroung me and making others feel better is my unit for measuring success. take care. -Miraz :)

hi Santosmarichris well, measuring success is pretty subjective from person to person. my honest measurements are based on how close am i to the objective that i have set out to. if i have achieved my objective, i call that a success. if i haven't reached my objective i wouldn't call it a failure, but i call it a 'lesson'.. and when i overachieve and overshoot my objective, i call my friends and we all celebrate the overwhelming success

I thinks it's not about the material things that you gained. It is the contentment that you feel with what you have or what you are doing in life. You will feel more the success if you feel happy with what you are doing.

Hi Santosmarichris, Success can be measured by the way you made an impact to the community you worked with, to the people you worked with, to everyone who you had encountered in your journey in life. Anything that made them realize how beautiful life is, how they struggle to become better person as you inspired them and even if you're not amnymore around them...your presence is felt by the way they look at things and relate with people. With all these...i know i am right now experiencing it and i am happy that i am able to reach and experience the true essence of success!

It's not the highest peak I'm aiming now. I'm still optimistic and think positively though. But I would rather watch in little steps day by day as my children grow. Facing the great unknown which is life itself I'm very happy if everyone else in the family does as we move on.

If you have a diploma hanging on the wall, trophies on the shelf, you'll look at them and feel proud of them because you know he struggled to get them and deserved. And so over time, getting everything that you will crave and this will be the result of sweat and effort each his own.

For me I have always measured success not by the amount of money I make, or the certifications or diplomas I have hanging on my wall, but I measure success by helping others out. The smile on their faces and the gratification they get from someone doing something nice for them is how I measure success and know that I have done a good job. If I feel it's right in my heart then to me it's been a success. Hard work in the things that we love to do such as our hobbies, and then sharing them with friends and family is in my opinion one of the best measures of success there is.
