Keeping and Breeding Convict Cichlids

I once had a pair of black convict cichlids. I must say, they are very easy fish to keep and a very much easy fish to breed. Just put them in a good sized tank. a 10 gallon tank will do for starters. but it won't be good enough soon. Because when you pace a male convict with a female. just wait a few days and they have eggs. A good adult sized pair of convict will breed happily in a tank where there are a lot of hiding places or flat rocks where they can lay their eggs. It is okay to keep the convicts in a community tank, because they will protect their eggs with their lives. so you don't have to worry about your convict. worry about their tank mates. convicts can be really territorial once they've had the eggs laid.
