I think TTS (text to speech) software could be so useful for not have to read text from the computer screen, is stressful to my sight, I have several voices, but I can't find a good software for use them. Are you using a TTS software? What for you are using it? What is the best TTS software?

I do use Text to Speech software. The best I have found is called "Read Please" from http://readplease.com From this website you can get the program and many different languages to choose from. The current version of Read Please has both a free and a pay version The free version works fine but the pay version has more options that you might find helpful.

Hi, I'm going to try it, but it seems to be a little old and not have upgrades since 2003. I have used textaloud until now: http://www.nextup.com/TextAloud Is so good, but has a little details I don't like, and that's why I'm searching for a better TTS software. Thanks for your response and advice...

I am not using them. The only one I tried was on a small Linux distro called Knoppix : the voice is mechanical and boring.

Hi topffer: As I said, it depends on the voice you can get very good and natural voices, still being mechanical and boring, but are so better than the old voices, at least you can understand what are them saying. I don't use them much but is useful in certain occasions. Regards.

yes i use them but very rare. because some time due to odd accent i have to also concentrate on the text some time to get the real word being spoken. and if there are images then i could not get them while being listened. so i am not very habitual, i just use them rarely.

Thanks for response... Yes is a little annoying the accent and pronunciation in many cases, but it depends a little of the voice itself, there are many bad voices, and other so good, I have voices in spanish (my native tongue) and in english that are very good and sounds so natural. The most new voices are so good in general. What I'm searching is a program to use them.
