I donot know whether you are interested in philosophy or not.Philosophy cannot produce material wealth directly. And in this material world people are likely more interested in persueing tangible wealth.Philosophy is a little strange to many of us. Does philosophy mean anything in our lives? What benefits can philosophy bring to us? Does philosophy mean anything in our lives? What benefits can philosophy bring to us?

To some philosophy is a system of beliefs. It is an investigation of questions on existence, knowledge and ethics. It also teaches us how to live and how to deal with a situation. After thinkers in ancient Greece had constructed theories about everything in Universe, they argued which theory is true and which is false. If reasoning tells us that the reality is different to what appears to our senses, then what should we follow. Should we follow the reason or the senses? There are unanswered questions in philosophy. For example should philosophers be more concerned with what is the case or what we ought to do. Further, is it the nature of the world, or is it rather the nature of our own selves? A true philosopher must have ability to reason. In philosophy, one needs a faith, which is rational and not religious. Philosophy can only exist in a negative form, as a method of criticism, and never as a positive, constructive inquiry or source of 'theories' in its own right. However, the scope of philosophy remains vast, ranging over the entire spectrum of human thought and creative activity. Benefit of philosophy is that it teaches us to argue a case more forcefully, to express our thoughts better, and to be more flexible and creative in our approach to the problems that face us in our work or our daily lives.

Thank you Joshuael for the appreciation and BR vote to my answer. Yes, I agree I said, "In philosophy, one needs a faith, which is rational and not religious." This raises a question, "Is Buddhism a philosophy or religion?" Buddhism is the richest source of contemplative wisdom that any civilization has produced. It is a practice of contemplation and inquiry that does not depend on belief on God or a soul or anything supernatural. Therefore, I say it is not a religion, it is a philosophy.

Your are professional to offer the answer.I have learned much from your words.Especially your last sentences are very good. You said a true philosopher shoud not be religious, but someone else said Buddism has great wisdom. Is it contradictory?

It is not really something tangible and not even produce material things. But I know it affects my life in some ways, like my way of thinking. I can line up philosophy to my principles in life, the way I reason out with many things. Philiposohy for me is like reasoning rationally. That's why I know it has an impact in my life.

Hi,dian21, It seems that you mean philosophy can give your wisdom to act,and proper actions bring us benefits for life.Wisdom is not tangible, but all tangible wealth is produced by mankind's wisdom.

philosophy is important because it enables the person to give rational explanation about things that are happening in his/her environment. :)

Hello,incus99, From your words, philosophy is likely related to principles that guides our conducts. As everyone has his principles, all of us are natural philosophers in thinking. The puzzle is, people's principles are usually contradictory to each other's.The reasons in depth are so complicated to make clear. Thus philosophy is not easy to comprehend on an all-round basis.

It dosen't matter if someone is interested or not.Because it exists in every corner of our life, just between if you find or not. The significance of philosophy is the same meaning of the significance of life.
