Confusion.. This is a question i have seen in a book(computer) of a kid. Who is doing the exercise and i'm sitting besides him to assist in completing his homework. Going Through the exercise one question who confused me a lot in which we have give the answer in "YES" or "NO". The Question is:- Computer Run Through Electricity Only..Yes or No ? When i see first i didn't felt any confusion and i tick on NO without any hesitation it can run through UPS(Battery)also. But when i thinking thoroughly into my Mind UPS is also a electricity equipment it also produce electricity and a part of electricity then my answer was change to YES... What you think what will be the correct answer of it..?Why?

Hi, Charles Babbage first invented Computer and it was driven by mechanical parts. From first generation computers to the ones we use today are all electricity driven. There is no other way to interpret a 1 or a 0. In a circuit with a bulb and a switch is often used to represent a single binary digit. When you close the switch the bulb is turned on, which can be thought of as a binary 1. Again if you open the switch the bulb will be turned off, which is a 0. Lets assume for a moment that there are other mechanical ways to run a computer. In that case the equipments will be as large as the Colosseum of Rome and the number of labors that will be required will be more than double of that required to build a pyramid. Thanks. God bless you

The intricate electronic parts on your mainboard runs on DC. But you feed AC into the SMPS(switched mode power supply), where the AC is converted into DC voltages. They are then fed into different parts of motherboard. Even if you run your computer by UPS you are feeding the computer with electricity. When you are using a battery, you are actually using the electricity generated due to the chemical reaction within the battery itself.

Q:computer run through electricity only? yes or no A: yes Thats why we call it electronic gadgets because they only work when powered up by electricity. any means of energy will still need to convert to electric power or else it wont work.

Yes Sili, in this case, YES is the correct answer! Because, whatever may be the source of electricity like domestic supply power lines or generator or UPS (battery) or a solar power system; the ultimate energy out put from every source is electricity that is only required to run the computer. Even we can say that a tiny calculator or a quartz watch / clock at home / office or simply our mobile phones also run through electricity! Nothing wrong in it for the different sources as per the applications! This is the age of electricity and life is so easy now in most of its aspects for the utilities of electricity only! Thanks for this nice discussion and have more happier times with electricity!!

Quite confusing at first ha, I was also tempted to say No, but then, after reading all the responses that myLotters gave, then I realize that I too, was mistaken to say No.

The answer should be YES. Even though a computer runs through UPS, it is well called as direct current and however it is electricity. We call the normal current alternate current. So, the computer runs only in electricity either it is direct or alternate.

What about air? Water? Fire? Can you boot up your computer by pumping in air? The answer is NO. What about plugging in your computer to a faucet so you can boot your computer using water? It's NO again. What about getting a match or lighter and igniting your computer to see if it will boot up through fire! Oh, NO! Don't you ever try do that! The answers to my questions above are all NO. So, that means the answer to your question is absolutely YES! Computer run through electricity only. None other. And don't ever try the other options I have mentioned above!
